I'm not a fan of these long layoffs paired with those tiring back to backs. It feels like the schedule makers gave us no medium this season. Since it's a tank year it doesn't really matter that much but if we were actually competing for something this would be brutal.

Zach Lowe provides a rundown of what a thriving Detroit offense looks like:
Zach Lowe wrote:1. Andre Drummond, blooming
This is the Drummond we've been dying to see. He has taken just 12 shots out of post-ups in 11 games.
Drummond has abandoned the post to focus on what he does best: setting screens, catching lobs from a revived Reggie Jackson, and snaring above-the-rim rebounds before anyone else can hope to reach them. When Drummond wants to go on his own, he's facing the basket and driving -- something Stan Van Gundy was prodding him to try last season.
Van Gundy is even running a lot of the offense through Drummond above the elbows. Tobias Harris and Drummond have developed a refined two-man game; Harris has never been better.
On defense, Drummond is venturing further out of the paint to smother pick-and-rolls around the 3-point arc. He has the wheels to corral little guys out there, but he has resisted it in the past.
The Pistons are playing with a new alertness and ferocity. They are flying around on defense, denying passing lanes and screaming out help assignments. Jackson is pushing the pace more often, and everyone is cutting at full speed. It's like they watched Avery Bradley in practice and realized, "Oh, that's how you cut with purpose."
Drummond is at 64 percent from the line...If he sustains as a serviceable free throw shooter, it will be one of the best stories in the league -- a franchise-changing one for the Pistons.
ESPNThat's good stuff and a clear result of some solid coaching.

This is the type of game that I can see us winning and then the eggspurts will get off the Piston bandwagon...but for the record, my surprise team in the east was Detroit. I think I even listed them on a thread..
Hawks 103
Pistons 99

Pistons are out working us on the glass. 8 offensive rebounds in the first quarter.

I don't think the Hawks can win tonight, they get close then Detroit pulls away.

So close, game after game. Hawks have played three of the better teams in the east and all games went down
to the wire. 1-2 I those games. Not too bad for a team expecting nothing.
Exciting games, all three. Bazemore came alive tonight. Hawks hit some threes and, for some reason, they
got few opportunities from the free throw line.
Recently, I asked a question, but got no answer. Here it is again: Would you trade, even, our two centers,
Dedmon and Collins for last season's center, D8? Explain your thinking, please.
Some day, some day soon, Hawks will win again. We're getting there, I believe.
We try again tomorrow night. GO ATL HAWKS !

Well we were in it towards the end thanks to a pretty good 3rd quarter. Baze stepped up and played well to his credit. Babbitt looked pretty good out there and Collins keeps growing. We are learning to play with each other and building chemistry with the young guys.
I wasn't too impressed with the Pistons for the most part. I mean against us Reggie Jackson looked like Isiah Thomas, Ish Smith looked like Vinnie Johnson and Andre Drummond looked like a combination of Dennis Rodman, James Buddha Edwards and Bill Laimbeer all in one lol..but against the top dogs, the Pistons won't survive past round 1 of the playoffs.
Luke Babbitt looked pretty hilarious running the fast break at the end of the first quarter...I yelled OOP IT TO COLLINS!!!! No point forward in his future please.
Quick turnaround as we play the Wiz tomorrow at their place at the wrong time. They just beat the Lakers at home last night and Wall, Beal and company are getting warm.
Ps Little Cesar arena makes me hungry..(not new)

Close game Gramps let's gettem tomorrow night in DC. To answer your question, I would not trade Dedmon alone for Dwight Howard much less Dedmon and Collins.
My thinking is that Dedmon is on a pretty good contract, he plays very hard, he's coachable for Bud as evident in his new 3'point stroke and is a willing team player. Personally I see Dwight as a guy who rebounds because he's physically stronger than the competition even at his age on most nights, other than that, he doesn't have a go to move in the post that's reliable, he can't shoot the midrange, he doesn't make his teammates better on the floor.
Personally I put Dwight in the list of players that I wouldn't want my team going after..Dwight and Melo..I'd prolly put Blake Griffin on there as well. Just feel like they aren't clutch players and won't be good for a team short term or long. Just my 2 cents.
GO HAWKS!!!!!!!
Happy Veterans Day weekend everybody! #respect

Down big at the half, fought all the way back and still enhanced the draft pick by a little bit. Tonight was a completely successful night for the Hawks as far as I'm concerned.

Another valiant effort.
The 2nd quarter swoon did us in. (I blame the schedule, so many days off after playing so many games consecutively). Guys had heavy looking legs. Too many turnovers.
Babbit is so much better than Moose.
Last 2 games have been rough for Prince - too hesitant, too many pump fakes, either let it fly immediately or drive - too indecisive.
The 2nd half defensive intensity and adjustment was good.
Dennis - double double
Baze - good game
Collins did some good things defensively (the practice days helped).
After 12 Turnovers in 1st half (8 in 2nd Q) only 3 in 2nd half.

One thing I've noticed this season is the length of the games. Getting rid of the 20 second timeouts, reducing the overall number by 2 (from 14 to 12, I think), limiting the number of timeouts in the last 2 minutes, etc. Plus guys taking freethrows can't walk pass the 3pt line in between freethrows.
Love these shorter games and flow of the games.

And my favorite part is side out of bounds if the player isn't in their shooting motion when fouled. That's eliminated a ton of cheesy free throw line trips.
I have playstation vue as a streaming tv service and i recommend it for hawks games. It dvr's everything and i often end up watching the game replay which they've condensed to 2 hours without eliminating any game play. just shorter halftime and timeouts. Plus it has a 10 second incremental skip ahead which is perfect for out of bounds, and free throws are about 50 seconds.
