Hawks will have hands full with Pelicans' Davis, Cousins

The Atlanta Hawks, at 2-11, have the worst record in the NBA but have been playing opponents closer of late.

The Hawks are playing short-handed and did not have Ersan Ilyasova, Mike Muscala, DeAndre Bembry and Miles Plumlee available in a 113-94 road loss to Washington. They will need more consistent play from point guard Dennis Schroder, who went 2 of 16 from the field against the Wizards.

The Hawks also have let frustrations boil over onto the court. "We've got to do a better job of keeping our emotions, and everything, our frustrations in check," Atlanta coach Mike Budenholzer said.

We are going to get stomped by the Pels. We literally have one NBA big on the team right now.

I didn't see the Hawks frustrations boil over unless they are talking about Prince dogging it and getting benched.

Yeah, that's exactly what they were referring to. (I edited the blurb out initially.)

Code: Select all

A critical play in the loss to Washington came when Taurean Prince complained to officials that he was fouled on a layup attempt, allowing an easy 3-pointer on the other end and then committing a technical foul. A seven-point deficit ballooned to 11 late in the third quarter.

I liked that Bud benched Prince at that point and then made him play garbage time. Prince could end up being a big time player for us. Got to make sure he's playing the right way.

Prince's play of late has indeed impressed me. And he's probably the only young player on this roster who seems to pair well with any of the top 6 draftees.

I hope he survives the purge and gets a chance to carve out a niche for himself. (But admittedly, there are a lot of talented young SFs in this draft.)

Dennis got them quick hands ready for the Cousins nut shot..

Pelicans 107
Hawks 96

They are dumb as hell but unfortunately still to big for us. Cousins goof could help us though.

Budenholzer is exposing Gentry. I'll give you firsts for him.

I love watching John Collins play. His activity on the offensive glass is Tristan Thompson-esq.

Baze, the tank commander. Smh.
Why is he running the final play, smh.

Another rough shooting night for Dennis.

Tank commander Bazemore at it again.

Misses a free throw down 2 with 35 seconds left, then after we get a stop he dribbles out the clock only to lose the ball and leave 3.2 seconds on the game clock.

Last season I would've been infuriated with a loss like this. This year, it just aids the tank. Go get us Luka!

1.5 Seconds was left on clock. How is that not reviewable?

That's not reviewable but the block/charge was reviewable even though it apparently had nothing to do with the restricted area since GlassDavis was nowhere near the line?

Speaking of GlassD, that dude is a ticking, season-ending timebomb.

Also, I lost my disdain for Baze. It happened sometime in the 3rd quarter.

It's not even his fault anymore. I just look at him flailin' 'n failin' and just think, "Bless his heart."

Great game overall. Prince and Collins seriously grow daily. That Baze to Collins oop was sick...he got up! I love Baze! Lol.

 Bless his heart. Speaking of which there was a 'bless your heart' segment on radio this morning. Listeners were callung in with their own 'Bless your heart' moment. Heeelarious. Lol
