~lol~
Well, if Luke is let go soon, some team would likely hire him as a head coach soon after. If LP is here longer than one year.....

Thanks for the honesty.MorbidHEAT wrote:My dislike for Lin started during Linsanity. It was absurd. It's probably irrational dislike at this point, but man he gets on my nerves. He's been tearing us up though.

I hope I'm wrong obviously, but file this away as my prediction to look back on in a few years.

What's Luke really good at though? What's his forte? Managing a roster full of stars in Kerr's absence? Spud could have coached that team and they still would have won.
What has he done with the Lakers with all the high draft picks the Lakers have had since he's been there? Ingram, Russell, Randle, Lonzo, etc. Have they developed enough under his tenure? I would say no.

Look Luke has the communicay if you will of the young millennial douches known as nba players. Is he a tactician of basketball and will reinvent coaching, prolly not but he’s better than some of the old school coaches like myself who couldn’t handle egos of today’s idiot kids. No offense kids keep doin you!
Ps I could have coached that Warriors squad, our Hawks right now, jamaals kids yba league..and many more what’s ur point? If it’s that time of the month it’s actually good I’ll remember that ur just like this around the first of the month. Ya diickk!

kg, I'm officially scratching Luke off my list of potential coaching candidates for the future...
MSN SportsKings coach Luke Walton sued for alleged sexual assault, report says
The former Lakers coach allegedly made unwanted advances toward sports reporter Kelli Tennant while he was an assistant with the Warriors, according to the TMZ report and the Los Angeles Times. The TMZ report states that Walton met Tennant at a hotel in Santa Monica, California to discuss a book Tennant was writing. Tennant reportedly wanted Walton to write the book's foreword and the conversation was moved to Walton's hotel room, where the incident occurred.

How exactly do you hire Luka Doncic's former coach and then pass on drafting Luka Doncic? If I'm the Mavs, I scoop him up as an assistant and Head Coach in Waiting.
Suns are by far the worst organization in sports right now.
3 Head Coaches in 4 years?

Absolutely agree. Rumor is they hired Igor because they wanted L*** but got overruled by the AZ guy Sarver.
I was gonna say we should bring Igor in as a pre-draft consultant but who really knows (or wants to know) the Suns' draft plans?

It's the beginning of assistant coaching carousel season.
As I look at Pierce's staff, you know what sticks out?
No former point guards. None.
Now, the most ideal candidate to fill that void appears to be a non-starter.... Pierce's buddy Mr. Nash is evidently enjoying his role as a consultant to the Warriors which also allows him to fill his time with other things he likes to do on the West Coast.
But here's a familiar... and evidently available right now today... name...
Mark Price anyone?

You can't just pluck a name out of the sky just 'cause it sounds good on paper (huh?). Price is a shooting coach. Bring him in as a consultant to work with guys. I don't think he's really shown an ability, on the coaching side, to do much more than that.
Besides, coaching is about relationships. Wake us up when you find a guy who's connected to CLP in some way.
Nash doesn't count because he, apparently, doesn't need or want to be an asst. coach. He could step in as a HC if he wanted so let's collectively stop bringing his name up as anything more than a guy who'll have a conversation or two with Trae from time to time.
And why do we necessarily need a guy who's a former pg anyways? Seems like the staff is doing a pretty good job so far.
And has anyone left from the staff? Ol' sturt just strutin' somethin' again, I guess.

Re: Potential Coaching Options Moving Forward
Actually, Price in his most recent coaching stop was the head coach (Charlotte).
But I was indeed plucking a name out of the sky... well, not the sky... Price has been on the staff in ATL before, and in his time, he was Steve Nash before Steve Nash became Steve Nash.
I think you'd want to give young Trae a true PG mentor on the coaching staff.
This past season, many of us assumed Lin was filling a player-coach role in that way, and that seemed to be supported on occasion by comments Schlenk or Pierce made.
And, if I'm not mistaken (?), we actually didn't carry a full staff this year anyhow... so Pierce can add w/o breaking any NBA rules.

Re: Potential Coaching Options Moving Forward
I'm well aware of what Price has been doing the past couple years. In what can only be described as a modern-day Shakespearean twist, this time it is you who haveth failed to comprehendeth what I hath written.
I said he hasn't "shown an ability to be more than a shooting coach". That doesn't mean he hasn't held a position higher than a shooting coach. Just wait ... let it sink in, you'll get it.
I say we just get another solid backup to compete with Trae. Keep Vince around to mentor him.
CLP, in his exit interview, mentioned he doesn't want one voice to spend too much time with any of the players because the message gets stale. I read that to mean we'll never have what you're suggesting, a "personal pg coach" for Trae.
Be honest, @sturt. All these words really warm your cockles, right?

Um... hehe... pardon me, my friend but your exact words were...
Price is a shooting coach.
So yeah, I failed to catch the pass, but it was thrown out-of-bounds, so what did anyone expect???...

Me, not a fan of spending roster slots on mentoring roles. That's why you have a coaching staff.
And lest I be misunderstood... though I realize the way I said what I did could be reasonably taken to mean "personal coach".... I'm not advocating for a personal coach, per se. I just want someone on the staff who is there and capable to give some specific, experienced advice.
And whether it's Price or Nash or anyone else, I think there are more than enough former PGs in the NBA and college coaching universe that could fit that role well. Nick Van Exel comes to mind, and if I gave it more thought, I'm sure I could generate a half-dozen well-regarded guys, at minimum.

Oh, and what exactly are "cockels?"
I think mine are already warm, but I'm not sure.
