Trade winds swirl ahead of Celtics-Hawks matchup
Two teams with different perspectives on the upcoming NBA trade deadline get together when the floundering Atlanta Hawks visit the Boston Celtics on Friday night.
Kyrie Irving missed Wednesday night's blowout win over the New York and Marcus Smart remained out.
Irving has owned the Hawks in his 20-game career against them. His 26.0 scoring average against Atlanta is his third highest against any team -- and he had 65 points in the Celtics' two wins in Atlanta earlier this season.
The Hawks, losers of four of their last five, fell at home to the Charlotte Hornets (and former Hawk) Dwight Howard) on Wednesday.
The names Kent Bazemore and Dennis Schroder have been floated out there in terms of the deadline and right now it's just a team floating in NBA purgatory. Atlanta trails the Orlando Magic by a half-game at the bottom of the Eastern Conference.
The Celtics and Hawks have had some bad blood between them in the recent past, but you have to wonder how much fight the Hawks have left inside them.

That last sentence above really hurt my feelings.
Man I hope we get a real run at the top of the standings. Shuffling between mediocre and terrible this past decade is really starting to wear on me.

Celtics have been managing injuries since Game One. Kudos to that squad and their depth that they are still clinging to that top seed throughout all the adversity.

Listening to Scal was funny and painful at the same time. With Prince and Collins, we are building well...some of those oop finishes to Collins were emphatic to say the least...nothing new but always great to see...Prince with a career game. Was that his career high in points? Don’t remember him scoring 31 before but could be wrong. Nice L for tank as mentioned!
Go Hawks!!!

Now Then, this is the way we do it! - - Play half the game, showing our opponent how good we are. Then,
in the second half, we show them how well we can:
TANK -TANK - TANK - TANK !!
Wasn't even close. Hawks beat the top team in the east - We were ahead at the half. Left no doubt to
any one that we could play with the best of them. Ex Hawk Horford decked our center without a call.
Then, he did it to another Hawk and got called for it. Bud got a tec. when he decked Dedmon. Gee,
I don't remember him playing like that when he was a Hawk.
Trade deadline approaches......We wait, wondering, what is going on? Who will stay or go? - - We wait.......

Boston should be able to win shorthanded like this. Great job by Boston and nice new addition with Greg Monroe.

This is a much needed lose. Dennis can't put the Hawks on a winning streak when we are vying for the #1 pick in the draft. Orlando is no going in for another #1 overall pick in their short and pathetic history. I don't know why the NBA has rigged the draft to give Orlando multiple #1 picks when they are a horrible sports market and have lost multiple stars to take less money just to get out of central Florida.
