Skidding Hawks return home to face hot Lakers
ATLANTA -- After losing three straight on the road, the Atlanta Hawks finally get a chance to return home on Monday. But their opponent is the Los Angeles Lakers, a young team tha has gotten hot in the last month.
The Hawks (18-42) will host the Lakers (25-34) for the only time this season at Philips Arena. They will be trying to split the season series after Los Angeles won 132-113 on Jan. 7 at the Staples Center.
Atlanta has lost three straight games -- all on the road -- and dropped five of their last six. The Hawks are currently last in the Eastern Conference.
"We just want to go out there and compete," Atlanta guard Kent Bazemore said. "We didn't do that (against Indiana)."
Atlanta never led in Friday's 116-93 loss to Indiana. The Hawks had 13 turnovers in the first half, which led to 18 points for the Pacers, who had a 17-point advantage at halftime. Atlanta had 22 turnovers for the game.
The Sports ExchangeNot gonna be a problem, Bob!

It should definitely say "tanking and not "skidding".

Normally I've done my best to advocate against taking home Ls this season but drastic times call for drastic measures. I hope we lose a close one tonight.

I like nothing more than beating the teams that Atlanta 'fans' flock to see and watch them leave disappointed with a loss but with experience tanker in Kings, Magic and Suns in this race. I say lose them, lose them all (I feel so sad for saying it

)

This year i have no problem with losing. Especially if we play well. If dumb-ass laker fans want to gloat that they narrowly beat us when we were trying to lose then who are the real losers here?

Dennis Schroder is not the PG to lead us into the next stage of our metamorphosis. I'd like to trade him to the highest bidder on draft night.

Man, I wish we were more competitive. Lakers fans are insufferable.

If any of us thought that the two veteran players that the Hawks bought out and released were not important
cogs in the Hawks machine, be at once undeceived. Now we know. All we have to do is look at our recent
games. This, plus the fact that the Hawks couldn't get so many of their shots to fall = this. Ugh.
The remainder of the season will be a tryout for all the players future in the NBA. Most all the players on
our current roster will be somewhere else when the season opens this fall. Trades and the draft will
combine to change the Hawks. Some current Hawks may be major pieces in trades and some may be
that extra player added to make things work.
Who will go? Who will stay? We can only speculate, and we will. Now, we all watch and wonder about
each and every player we have.

Nice turn of phrase, gm.
You know words. You have
the best words.

That Ingram kid is pretty nice. Hard to believe that only a few months ago Lakers fans were ambivalent on keeping him for the future.
Avg 18/5/5 for the month while shooting 52% from three. At age 20.

Agreed.
I still think he can be a useful piece on the right team, in a different system.
But he shouldn't be the starting PG moving forward for our rebuild.

I'm feeling that way too. And what about Taurean? Lot of bad shots to get to that 24 points. He's been really shaky the last month. I'm not convinced there is a lot more growth we'll see. He's a good player though.

Well I think part of the reason Prince is jacking up so many shots is because we don’t have much talent and sadly he’s one of our strongest offensive weapons even though his forte is defense. I think if and when we reshape the roster, Prince can go back to focusing on what he does best, D’ing up...but meanwhile, he can take some nice in game jumpers to improve his confidence moving forward.
For me, I’d like to trade Dennis this offseason. But I’m all for keeping Prince. The guy is a straight up pit bull on D. I can’t trade players like Prince...it makes me feel..bad inside.
