Absolutely early 2018 scoreboard watching...

Post#1 » by Spud2nique » Wed Mar 7, 2018 5:00 pm

Figure I’d kick off a topic that was near and dear to our hearts, watching our opponents lose..
We all scoreboard watch, but I guess this thread is for the 6 or 7 other team’s scores we watch every night as opposed to the overall 2018 game thread. I will try and post the games everyday but if I forget perhaps someone can fill in! Let the hate out of your hearts...AND ROOT AGAINST YOUR DRAFT RIVALS!!!!!!!!! LETS GO!!!!

Tonight:

Games for us to keep an eye on:

Grizzlies @ Bulls Bulls are favored by 3.5
Pelican @ Kings Pelicans are favored by 5.5
Magic @ Lakers Lakers are favored by 6.5

Not looking great today but I have a feeling the Kings can get a win at home tonight against a hot Pelicans squad. Also the Bulls beating the Grizz would have an upside as it would separate us a bit more from the Bulls, but also away from the Grizz.

GO GRIZZ
GO KINGS
GO MAGIC

Sorry mods if it’s easier I’ll just post under the “we are gaining on them” topic instead of having this one also. Feel free to delete if needed. Thanks!

Nets @ Hornets Hornets favored by 6.5
Celtics @ Wolves Celtics favored by 2.5
Suns @ Thunder Thunder favored by 10

It’s not looking good today either...The Nets and Suns are heavy underdogs on the road and added Minny to keep an eye on them for the pick. They are only 2.5 out of being out in the western conference playoffs so now might be a time to turn around and root for them to win again. I’d rather the pick be at 24th overall than no first rounder at all obviously.

GO NETS
GO SUNS
GO WOLVES (I think...)

Currently Hawks picks stand at : pick 3, 22, 30

Hawks pick 3rd (tied at 20-45 with 5 other teams)
Minny pick 22nd
Rockets pick 30th

WHAT IS WRONG WITH TODAY'S NBA ?

Think of this: Mid August in Atlanta. There is a fresh, new snowball, fresh out of the deep freeze, laid out
in the middle of the sidewalk. What are the odds of it's survival if remains there?

With today's super teams in the NBA, what chance do all the other teams have, even if they make the playoffs?
Just as much chance as our snowball. This is especially true in the west where they have two dominant teams.
Who will have any chance against them in a seven game series.

In the east, things are not as clear. Sure, there is King James, who has been to the NBA finals for so many years.
There are a couple of teams ready to attempt to knock he and his team down. But, what about all the others?
Chances are slim and none and slim is riding away n a big hurry.

Parity? What? That's a joke, isn't it. Why would any one question why these teams are desperate to acquire
some of the top draft picks? Maybe, just maybe, if we had this future super star that I believe exists here, we
might become good enough to be good before our star decides to, as he becomes a free agent, go to a super team.

SOLUTION?

I hope someone has a solution. I sure don't.

Key games tonight:

Bulls @ Pistons Pistons favored by 8
Hawks@ Pacers Pacers favored by 8.5
Jazz @ Grizzlies Jazz favored by 9
Magic @ Kings Kings favored by 4

The Bulls could probably steal a win if they wanted to and they actually might after being warned by the league to stop resting their vets.

Hawks need to go into Indy and play hard for 3.5 quarters...lol..

Grizz are hopeless tankers..shame shame shame.

Magic @ Kings (both 20-45 same as Hawks)... well, the good news is someone has to win here..

Key games tonight:

Suns @ Hornets Hornets favored by 11.5
Grizzlies @ Mavericks Mavs favored by 9
Magic @ Clippers Clippers favored by 11.5

Not holding out too much hope for the Suns getting a road win in Charlotte today. The good news between the Grizz and Mavs, somebody has to win and most likely it’ll be the Mavs in this one. The Magic could win a road game and catch a tired Clipper team nappin, but the Clippers are hot so it’s not looking great.

GO SUNS
GO GRIZZ
GO MAGIC

We need all the roadies to get a W tonight! LETS GO!!!!

Picks (up to date)

It looked like a nice tease looking at the score.

I'm all about some shameless tanking but the Grizzlies are taking it to shameful levels. I really hope they fall out of the top 2 come lottery time.

Key games today/night:

Bulls @ Hawks Hawks favored by 2.5
Kings @ Nuggets Nuggets favored by 12
Rockets @ Mavericks Rockets favored by 10
Sixers @ Nets Sixers favored by 6
Warriors @ Wolves Warriors favored by 5

First and foremost we have to do our own job of tanking. Don’t take the Bulls lightly as tankers, they were issued a warning by the league to stop resting vets like Lopez n Holiday. Not sure if that’ll stop their stealth.

The Kings are in trouble in Denver tonight...east win for Denver I’d assume.

Rockets will look to avenge their latest loss to the Raptors which snapped their 17 game win streak. The Mavs are happy that the Rockets are in town to administer their meds.

Sixers probably a bit too much for the Nets. The Nets have no reason to tank, yet have been on a tremendous down slide. Hoping Atkinson can company put one on the Sixers today but again it seems doubtful.

The Warriors roll into Minny hoping to bounce back from the Blazer loss. Given all the tiebreak advantages that the Wolves have over most of the other teams fighting for the playoffs in the west,(besides Denver) wouldn’t mind watching the Wolves drop this one to strengthen our Minny pick!

GO BULLS
GO KINGS
GO MAVS
GO NETS
GO WARRIORS

Picks (updated)

20. Minny
30. Rockets

I'm with you as far as the Minny pick is concerned. I don't think they'll miss out on the playoffs with the tiebreakers they own. It's also unlikely that they'll be the one team out of the 7 competing from 3-9 to finish in that 9th spot.

Would love to see that Minny pick enter the teens and put us in a position to draft Dzanan Musa.

What do you like about Dzanan Musa in particular. I have to admit I’m not very familiar with him at all, but watching some film on him, was wondering what might separate him as a prospect?

He's one of the best prospects in this draft at both creating his own shot and getting to the FT line, also really improved his 3 point shot this year.

His main problem is the defense. He has the length to develop into an average defender at least but he has this bird chest and doesn't really have the body frame to build much strength.

I'm selfishly for him because he's Bosnian tbh. I'd come to every game with a flag around my waist if we take him.

From the little bit I've seen/read, he is a flat out scorer at the SF position. Good working off the dribble and in the mid range.

Reminds me a bit of Peja, though not yet that caliber of shooter.

He brings scoring prowess and would make a great sixth man if nothing else. Instant offense off the bench.

He needs to hit the weights and continue expanding his shooting range.

This kid's quickness and handles are impressive.

He doesn't strike me as a Bud type player as he seems like a ball-dominant, score-first player.

But dude is nice.

Key games tonight:

Bucks @ Grizzlies Bucks are favored by 7.5
Kings @ Thunder Thunder are favored by 12.5

The Grizzlies are hosting the Bucks but have lost 17 games in a row... doubt the streak gets snapped tonight.

The Kings are on the road to face Westbrook and company...oh boyyyyyy..
