Shelden Williams to receive $400K alimony payment

Former Hawks lottery pick Shelden Williams will reportedly receive $400,000 in alimony in his divorce settlement, according to TMZ Sports.

The former WNBA MVP and University of Tennessee star will make a one-time alimony payment to Williams, who lasted 1 ½ seasons with the Hawks.

This is sad for so many reasons.

(I hope he went back to college and got his degree.)

Shelden just keeps hitting the lottery.

And I believe he received his degree in sociology or at least I would hope so after spending 4 years at Duke. I think he's better served remaining as a scout for the Nets though.

I believe Candace Parker has a child by Shelden. So, if he's receiving this one time alimomey settlement, does he have any financial obligations to her as dar as their child is concerned. Child support?

If he requested and won alimony I'd suspect that he would be the one entitled to child support dependent on how custody shakes out.

Kind of my point. It's not a high-earning field lest he went back to school to earn a PhD to teach it at a university level. As I said, he's better served parlaying his connections in the NBA. He apparently already has/had a job as pro scout for the Nets, he can work his way up to lead scout, video coordinator, assistant coach etc. but as far as currently his ex-wife is clearly the breadwinner in that family. Shelden probably outpaced her in career earnings despite such a short stint but Candace was/is the more extraordinary marketing star.
