Ideal Representatives for Every Team at the Draft Lottery

The 14 worst teams in the NBA (or, the ones that hold their picks) assemble every year to have their fate decided by ping-pong balls. The event is must-see TV, but it can be even better if they chose their reps by entertainment value

Atlanta Hawks: Kent Bazemore, guard

This one is simple: Bazemore made a name for himself with his over-the-top bench celebrations, including a signature move celebrating a 3-pointer. He’d raise his right arm while the shot was in the air, and then sink down to one knee while swinging his left arm into the sky, holding up three fingers. The entire lottery process would be worth it if the Hawks jumped into the top three and Bazemore leapt to his feet and pulled out one of these:

Yeah, I can do without seeing that much upper, inner thigh on a dude.

Like @spud, I'm rockin' some extra smedium slacks to work today. If I do any sudden lunges, it's gonna be a bad day for me and a good day for the tailor. :)

‘Scary but exciting’ role for Jami Gertz as Hawks rep at draft lottery

Image

Jami Gertz will have no effect on the Hawks’ chances in the NBA draft lottery on Tuesday night in Chicago. She won’t even be in the room during the random drawing that will determine which lottery pick the Hawks will own in next month’s draft.

But Gertz will have a starring role later that night as the team’s representative during the unveiling of the results live on ESPN. That means Gertz — whose acting career includes dozens of roles in Hollywood films and on television — will be the public face of the Hawks’ fortunes in the lottery.

“A lot of pressure,” Gertz said. “And I’ve had a lot of pressure in my life. I’ve done live theater. You’ve got to come up with the goods night after night, which is a lot of pressure. Tony Ressler seems to feel like I’m his gal.”

Gertz and the other team representatives will learn their teams’ picks during the ESPN show.

“I’m very excited,” Gertz said. “We’ve been the owners for three years now and I feel like this is the first time we’ve taken ownership."

(Shriveling up lotto ticket..)

It’s over...

Cavs get in the top 3. That kid carries crazy luck with him. Has there been a lottery that Nick represented that hasn’t netted a top 3 pick? Or top 1? Lol. Man.

How amazing would it be if Cavs and Celtics each ended up in top-3?

If Celts get the 1st pick, Cavs get 2nd and the Warriors win the chip, I will be AWOL for a minute.

if IT HELPS, that #1 pick would convey to Philly and would likely be the centerpiece of a Kawhi trade, so....

But yeah, that would be tough to swallow.

Ya, as mean as I seem online, I really loved this kid during the draft. He’s been through a lot and seems like a very mature young man.

Having said that, his luck is off the charts and it has to end in the lottery.

Gertz is cheating on Tony with a loser named Larry! Apparently they’ve been riding around gettin it (as the kids say..) and frequenting this local neighborhood burger joint...

I'm completely nervous and we're still over 7 hours out. Our entire future hangs in the balance of some ping pong balls.

(On that note: I can't imagine how Vancouver fans felt in the 2003 lotto: they were either gonna get Lebron James or completely lose their pick, and then they eventually lost their team to relocation as well).
