Hawks elect to make a quick turn around...

Hawks sign Isaiah Thomas

Hawks use the #3 to get a high level prospect like Bagley, Jackson, or Bamba, or trade the #3 to the Celtics for a SF and extras

Hawks use their extra cap space to get a mid level free agent like Favors, Capela, Avery Bradley, etc...

If Lebron leaves for the Western Conference, that leaves the East wide open. Celtics get the #1 spot, leaving the Raptors, Sixers, Pacers and Hawks fighting for 2, 3, and 4

Ultimately this only works if Isaiah goes back to his old form and is the clear cut #1 for the Hawks and plays with a huge chip on his shoulder and is allowed to face his old team who betrayed him in the Celtics.

Should the Hawks consider a fast turn around?

I'm not opposed to a fast turnaround.

But I'm uninterested in making Isaiah the centerpiece of any efforts.

If we:

1) turn #3 into Jaylen Brown, T Rozier and the SAC pick,

2) get a couple of polished upperclassmen later in the draft [Jalen Brunson, Chandler Hutchison, Khyri Thomas] and

3) then spend wisely in Free Agency...

I could see us making a quick return to the 2019 playoffs and still having the Kings and Cavs picks next summer to improve. That'd be a worthwhile approach.

With an outside shot at contention behind Collins, Taurean, Jaylen and whoever we draft next summer.

... sees Thomas as the centerpiece for a quik-build ....

I should say I never considered Thomas to be anything but a glorified 6th man anyway so.

You’re not getting Rozier, Brown AND the Kings pick for #3.

We will be fortunate if we don’t miss on the pick itself. Lots of #3s don’t pan out.

Give me the best guard prospect, and go from there.
