2018-2019 Roster/Line-Up Predictions

Post#1 » by dms269 » Fri Jun 22, 2018 11:36 am

C: Dedmon/Plumlee
PF: Collins/Muscala/Spellman
SF: Prince/Bembry
SG: Bazemore/Dorsey/Huerta
PG: Schroder/Young/Taylor

I think that is all who are under contract for next season (Muscala is a player option).

I think the hope is that we can move Schroder (Young starts) and Bazemore (Dorsey or Huerta).

Tells me the market for Dennis is worse than we thought.

C: Dedmon/Plumlee
PF: Collins/Muscala/Spellman
SF: Prince/Bembry
SG: Bazemore/Dorsey/Huerta
PG: Schroder/Young/Taylor

So, what's the plan? TSchlenk is talking about a long rebuild. The players in red are win now and doon't fit. We ended up with the player drafted fifth in this draft after the first year of the rebuild. With all this red a top pick will be hard to come by.

Are they win now or just vets. The Hawks aren't winning squat for awhile.

Well I think it's an issue, but it's only June.

What about unloading them for future assets instead of knocking us down draft slots? This draft was highly ranked compared to upcoming drafts. Top heavy and deep. We traded back a tank pick and did 0 to exploit moving up opportunity. Nothing against Trae but TS just traded out of a very good draft at the beginning of a rebuild.

He also traded #34, a valuable early second in a deep draft for future seconds...?

No attempt to move any of the red players during the draft opportunity. Looks like a replay of last season where all the redable players reaped nada, but added wins.

What's the plan?

Pray trae can get buckets?

Probably move the vets for picks and bad contracts, hope luka makes Dallas just good enough to pick 6th, and hope trae hits enough 35 footers to put some butts I. The seats and actually make players wanna come here. I know the narrative is that TS wants to make us the low rent warriors right now, but I think that’s jumping to conclusions a bit. It could just be that he’s seen the value of having a guy you have to cover at half court. And trae has that, there’s no denying. That puts so much pressure on the defense, it could work with the right guys around him.

On that note, RJ Barrett looks like a killer.

I don't think you draft a player on the top 5, just to see him on the bench unless injuries occur. Dennis is gone. Baze probably stays. Dedmon can flipped at anytime. Plumlee and Moose are salary fillers if need be.

They are Win now in the sense that when they signed their contract, ATL was in a win now mode, and maybe they would have not signed if they knew Schlenk would come and rebuild

As we saw this year, competition is very tight for top picks. One or three wins can mean going from #1 to #4. I value draft position more than vets this early in the rebuild. Dedmon is really too good to keep. I can easily see a deal where we get a 20s first next year maybe us adding a prot second.

And he will add to the win percentage if we keep him and then he expires and walks. Please trade him for a first and let Collins / Spellman develop.

Now that is the kind of plan I'm talking about. Especially the red. Not so hot on the Trae putting up 35 footers though. Rather he hit 24 footers and feed Collins / Prince / Heuter / Spellman

Yes, but don't wait long to flip Dedmon. He and hopefully Schro are gone this summer. Move Schro for a worse, but shorter contract without giving up draft assets and get some for Dedmon. We have another top pick tank season and the young core gets to play.

My very early opening roster looks something like: trade Schro for shorter worse deal. Trade Dedmon for a late first Add a couple cheap, short FAs that won't contribute to wins, but can mentor with Baze / Moose.

Moose / Plumlee
Collins / Spellman
Prince / Baze
Heurter / Dorsey / Bembry
Trae / Taylor

Kaba / Eriksson can come over and add a couple more cheap FAs. Lots of young players to develop and deffinately a contender for a top pick.

Add something like a top 5 Hawks pick, a top 10 DAL pick a 20s pick coming from CAVS and another 20s coming from Dedmon and we start next summer with Prince / Collins / Dorsey / Trae / Heurter / Spellman / #1 / #6 / #20 / #25 and two or three nice second round picks. Next summer will also be the time to look to add FA talent to complement all this youth.

By end of next summer we looking at:

#6 / Spellman/ Plumlee / Kaba
Collins / #20
Prince / Baze
#1 / Heurter / Dorsey
Trae / #25

If TS can pick em, by end of next draft, we should have a quite talented and VERY young team.

Young is not physically ready imo. You'd want to slowly add to his plate while his body develops as the season goes along. Rookie coach and 19 year old rookie, you know.

I consider Spellman center more than forward. His mass should help him in the post. Power forward depth could be improved. They'll probably want to address that in the next draft.

Dennis-Young
Baze-Huerter
Prince-Bembry
Collins
Dedmon-Spellman

Moose has not opted in. I don't care if we are tanking - I don't want Moose and Plumlee as my opening day starters.

I think he's done here, he has a QO of $3.2 mil. Isaiah Taylor would be my guess to come back.
