Maybe this will placate TB as he was one of the very few people clamoring for Len.

I like the signing for you guys. I think getting away from the 5th pick expectations will be good for him.

Pros- good rebounder, he's very big maybe even bigger than he's listed, pretty good defender although not the most instinctual, good FT shooter for a big, has a good shooting stroke but it just doesn't go in as much as it should.

Cons- suspect hands, not a good feel for the game especially on O, seems to have to think before he does something causing hesitation then rushing, fouls were a problem early but he's gotten better but that has dropped his block numbers.

8.5mil for two years, that's not bad. It'd be even better if it's not fully guaranteed, sacrificing cap room for next year, but I guess he took a lower salary.

I think he fits pretty well. He's somewhat a bust but only 24. Can get a double double and close to 2 blocks. Good defender. He could take the starting C spot down the road, he wants to be a starter in this league. Otherwise, it's nice to have him as a backup. It's good he has learned from Tyson Chandler.

Need a J.

So is he gonna be the Bogut/McGee/Zaza type?

Pretty nice signing. Can learn from Dedmon for a year and take over the starting C job next season.

Not trying to come off as clairvoyant or anything here but for weeks I was thinking Len would be a sensible signing for the Hawks...just as a passing thought in my mind. He can play good D and certainly has potential he hasn't lived up to. Who knows? Maybe he becomes a Nerlens Noel type player for us as the best case scenario.

The rebounds of the Hawks was 24th among NBA teams.
It's good to have a 7"1 backup center with 7.5 rpg at that price.

Interesting nugget - Miles Plumlee and Oleksiy "Alex" Len were teamates with the Suns in Len's rookie and sophore years.  Miles was in his 2nd year when Len was a rookie.

Alex just needs to get consistent. He is a very good rebounder, a decent defender, and his offense is OK. He struggles to catch the ball and has WAY too many shots blocked for a 7-1 player. He is huge. He seems much larger on the court than most 7-1 players. I wish we could have kept him and dumped Tyson Chandler.

Cool.
Hawks just need him to be better than Miles Bumlee

TS must be wearing his thinking cap. Nice to see Hawks snag Len as a young player at a good price. Also needed another young C on the team.

Yeah Dedmon should make a nice mentor until Feb.

The Len signing doesn't revove the bad taste from the Lin signing, but it does round out the summer's moves pretty nicely.

The Twin Towers that didn't work out for the Suns now have a chance to rise in Atlanta.

What to do with him tho? Just let him rot with his 25mil?

I like this addition. He is a cheap deal/ He is a good shooter with nice range. Should be a solid backup to Dedmon/possible starter if Dedmon is moved.

FTR, I do also really like the Len signing. A no risk, high reward pickup.

Small risk I'd say, would really be no risk if the second year isn't guaranteed.

With Dedmon limited by the early injury, we'll see what Len's got right out of the gate.

Say what you will about Travis Schlenk, but the man knows how to find solid reclamation projects off the scrap heap at Center.

First Dedmon has a surprisingly effective season, now Len looks like a steal given the low salary, short contract and the fact he was a lottery talent just sitting unsigned late in Free Agency.

Kudos to Len, Schlenk and the Pierce coaching staff for putting him in the right spots.
