So if Dedmon is playing, does that just mean less time for Len and Spellman?

It will almost certainly mean no PT for plumlee, and possibly less PT for V Carter and Poythress too.

3 things to watch for as the Mavericks take on the HawksThese two players are linked forever after this summer’s draft night tradeThe Dallas Mavericks don’t play many games in the national spotlight this season, but this is their second one in the span of eight days. There’s a reason for that, of course. Dallas ended up with Luka Doncic while Atlanta landed Trae Young and potentially the Mavs’ first round draft pick next season. With two top-five picks going head-to-head, it’s no wonder this game gets an undercard slot on ESPN. Now, let’s take a look at what might unfold tonight.
Trae Young can score, y’allAfter three games, Young is averaging 23 points per game, buoyed by his recent 35-point scoring outburst against the Cleveland Cavaliers. What makes him so dangerous is his ability to score from anywhere on the floor. However, the majority of his shots are coming from beyond the three-point arc. Young takes over nine attempts from three per game and connects on 39.3 percent of them.
He’s more than just a shooter, though. Young is also a facilitator and is averaging 8.3 assists.
Bombs awayScoring is up league-wide and a big reason why is because of all the threes that teams are letting fly. Atlanta and Dallas, like pretty much everyone else, have fully embraced the strategy.
Both teams are in the top-10 in three-point attempts this season: the Mavs rank fourth with 130 and the Hawks come in ninth with 113.
Where the teams differ, though, is in how many they make.
Atlanta finds the good side of the nylon on 40.7 percent of their threes. Meanwhile, Dallas is only making theirs at a clip of 32.3 percent. Pace of play and reboundingThe Hawks are one of the fastest teams in the league, averaging over 108 possessions per game. On the flip side, the Mavericks are one of the slowest teams with just over 100. Both those marks blow previous league averages out of the water. With Atlanta wanting to get out and run, Dallas needs to do all it can to limit scoring opportunities in transition.
Something that should help the
Mavs is their propensity for offensive rebounding. So far, they are one of the best in the league.
This game has all the makings of a shootout, so buckle up. Also, don’t be mad if Trae Young turns out to be a good player. There’s enough room in the world for both him and Doncic to be good at basketball. Dallas got their guy and are better for it. Just sit back and enjoy.

Young says he’s not focusing on Doncic in first matchup between the two rookies Wednesday
Trae Young knows that not every Hawks fan approved of the team’s draft night trade that sent EuroLeague MVP Luka Doncic from Atlanta to the Dallas Mavericks in exchange for Young and a 2019 top-five protected first-round pick.
Through three games, Young leads all qualified rookies in points per game (23.0), 3-pointers (11) and assists (25). Doncic is second in all three categories.
Young said that for all of the doubters of his game, he believes there are going to be twice as many people who love and support him in Atlanta. And when the two rookies play against each other for the first time Wednesday night, there’s not going to be added motivation for Young.
“I don’t have to prove anything to anybody,” Young said. “The only people I feel like I have to prove anything to are my teammates, the coaching staff and this organization to show them that they made the right choice."
The game Wednesday likely won’t feature many — if any — matchups when the two are guarding each other...It will be, however, another opportunity to show everyone, including those who still believe Doncic should be with the Hawks, that the organization made the right decision on draft night.

Ya'll forgive me...
I'm going to tune into this game from the tip with a lot of enthusiasm. I'm expecting an exciting fun and fast-paced game, but I have terrible luck... So it's going to be a stinker. After going 0-4 from 3 with 4 points on 4-4 FT's, Young is going to suffer a hammy late in the 1st will miss most of the game - and will DNP for the next 4 weeks. Billed as a rookie shootout...the Mavs will pull it out 81-77 in a slow, plodding, ugly snoozefest of a game.
Young 4 pts, 1 ast
Doncic 13 pts, 5 rbs, 3 ast

Have you been day-drinkin' wretch!?
Oh, I think I get it. Because you said it out loud, then it won't happen. Oh, ok.
Whew. Had me for a minute.
