Dedmon looks better in every aspect than Alex Len. More aggressive, better shot blocker, better rebounder. It's like Alex doesn't realize he is 7'1".

Like your posts, but that quote is never going to be true this year. This is not the year where the Hawks “must” win a game. “Should” is about the best at present; playoffs are not in the picture so “must” must wait till next year.

LOL, you're right. It's "should". I just meant for my bet of the Hawks winning the Southeast Division, it's a "must." ;0

I don't know what happened. The starters shat the bed. No one could hit a shot. Dedmon was fantastic, probably trying to show folks that he should be back in the starting lineup. I liked Trae's aggressiveness but he seemed like he was trying to force things a bit. Huerter is getting more confident.

These games where we lose and Trae Young shoots 25% from the field are going to be my least favorite of the season.

That just cause he is. Len is a pure back up, a good one at that. Dedmon is well liked by the fans and his teammates. Don't know what his future holds but I don't mind him getting extended; he has a good relationship with the younger bigs like Collins.

This game was a necessary evil for losing. Chicago has good reasons to tank especially if they had lost this game considering multiple starters of theirs missing extended time.

Led by Arcidiacono and with their own aggressive trap, the Bulls were the first team this season to thwart rookie Trae Young, who came into the game averaging 21.5 points and shooting 39 percent on threes. Much maligned for team defense, especially in Friday’s loss to the Hornets, the Bulls held Young to 13 points on three of 12 shooting and zero for six on threes.

“They didn’t like how last night went,” noted Hoiberg. “They watched the film session. They were embarrassed and I could see it in their eyes that they were going to come out with a good effort."

Hoiberg contributed impressively, as well, with multiple adjustments and responses that helped lead to the win over an Atlanta team coming in with back to back wins with a 15-point victory margin.

The Bulls with that varied trap against Young stunted the Hawks offense that had been averaging more than 106 points per game. The defensive pressure thwarted Young, and then when the Hawks pressured LaVine, Hoiberg moved LaVine more toward the middle of the floor as the guard facilitator.

The​ Hawks couldn’t​ overcome​ their​ sluggish shooting​ and sloppy​ defense in​ a 97-85 loss​ to​ the​ Chicago Bulls on Saturday​ at​ State​​ Farm Arena.

On Wednesday, the Hawks shot 15-of-38 from 3-point land, but Saturday was much different as the Hawks (2-3) made only 12-of-40 3-point attempts.

“We got 3s up but not the ones we want,” Pierce said. “When you look at how we play, when we’re playing well, we have ball movement, ball reversal, (the ball) touching hands. We try to make simple plays. You can look at the number, but those weren’t the 3s we wanted. We wanted plays and 3s that were off penetration.

Observations from the Hawks’ loss to the Bulls (2-4):

  1. The Hawks didn’t just miss 3s; they missed all over the court, hitting 27 of their 84 field-goal attempts. Meanwhile, the Bulls shot 36-of-83 from the floor, including 12-of-33 from 3.
  2. Taurean Prince led the Hawks with 16 points, but Prince shot just 5-of-14 and had six of the Hawks’ 22 turnovers. Prince entered the game averaging 21.9 points per game, but he missed six of his first seven shots.
  3. Trae Young looked like a rookie. Coming off two solid performances in games the Hawks won. Young shot 3-for-12 and missed all six of his 3-point attempts, and he had five turnovers. Young did shoot 7-for-9 at the free-throw line and finished with 13 points and four assists.
  4. Kent Bazemore followed his career-high 32 points Wednesday with eight points on 3-for-9 shooting. Bazemore had four turnovers, as well.
  5. Bazemore, Prince and Young combined for 15 turnovers.
  6. After the slow start, Pierce subbed in DeAndre’ Bembry, Jeremy Lin, Dewayne Dedmon and rookies Omari Spellman and Kevin Huerter. The Hawks outscored the Bulls 24-12 the rest of the first quarter and led 25-22 at the end of the quarter (and 44-41 at halftime).

Hawks and Bulls both started rebuilding at the same time. Bulls are considered ahead because they traded their best player and got valuable assets in return. That is noteworthy.

The Bulls and Hawks lost 50+ games last year, but the squads are at two different points in their rebuilds. Atlanta is in the first year of their rebuild, with new head coach Lloyd Pierce—so far—building a successful offense around polarizing rookie Trae Young and a mixture of effective young and veteran shooters. Fred Hoiberg and the Bulls have been together for three seasons so far, but this year represents year two of the Bulls rebuild, as the current core of Zach LaVine, Lauri Markkanen and Kris Dunn was expected to get considerable playing time together this season...

the Bulls could be in position to add another young talent come June. But on Saturday night, Chicago showed that their rebuild is definitely ahead of Atlanta on the talent of LaVine alone.
