The Denver Nuggets will look to turn their fortunes around tonight as they welcome the Atlanta Hawks.
The Nuggets are in the midst of their first losing streak of the season, having dropped four straight games to bring their record to 9-5. Tonight’s game will mark the end of a four-game home stand for the Nuggets before they head on a three-game road trip.
The Hawks come into tonight’s contest with a 3-11 record and having lost five-straight games. Atlanta dropped their most recent contest on the road against the Golden State Warriors, 110-103.
Here is what to watch for tonight:
Finding a rhythm from three: The Hawks are allowing opponents to shoot 38.8% from deep, an area where the Nuggets have been inconsistent this season. Tonight’s game should provide Denver, currently shooting just 33.1%, a chance to get hot from beyond the arc.
Pace: The Hawks play at the fastest pace in the league, while the Nuggets play at the 27th fastest pace. The Hawks are a young team coming to play in the Colorado altitude but that wasn’t an issue for them last season as they upset the Nuggets.
Defense: The Nuggets will have to find a way to slow down Atlanta’s Trey Young. The rookie point guard is averaging 17.5 points and 8.2 assists a night. The Hawks also have several athletic wings, with Taurean Prince and Kent Bazemore hovering around the 15 points per game mark.

The big IF.
If all three rookie draft picks have a good shooting night, Nuggets will have their hands full of Hawks.

I hope the game is fairly close like the past two, as this won't be on as late.

Prince is out tonight as well. I expect Trae to get doubled every single time he touches the ball. May not be a bad idea to run a lot of 2 PG lineups with him and Lin.

Trae Young with another horrendous game, his second in a row. He's 2-23 in these past two games including 0-9 from 3. He has to start knocking down that 3, I don't care about growing pains, it's utterly ridiculous for him to be shooting 25% from 3 on over 7 attempts per game.

The pressure is just too big on the kid at the moment. All the interviews, covers of the magazines...People around him have to find him some peace.

Yeah. This was the kind of scrutiny I was afraid of him succumbing to.
And the massive workload. And the lack of help elsewhere on the roster. This was
(one of the many) reasons to bring him along slowly. We're only a month into the season. With 65+ more games to go.
This could get ugly come January.

Maybe the worst display of NBA basketball I've seen. And while Jokic is amazing, I can't understand letting him stand there and survey the court for 10 seconds holding the ball in one hand. Get up on him and force him to try to drive.
But it's one game, in the altitude, without a bunch of our better rotation players at the end of a west coast road trip that saw us get robbed by officials in LA and then having to play the best team in the league. Plus Denver was on a four game losing streak so there was a lot stacked against us.
Trae was awful. Honestly I thought the coaching staff hung him out to dry in the fourth. I really think they thought he could pad stats because there was no other reason to leave him in.
On to the next one!

Trae's definitely had a rough stretch. The league has made adjustments. The coaching staff has help him adjust to team's defensive schemes.

Last night was a sad blur. I just remember thinking that every single Nuggets shot was open, clean, and going in. And cursing Bembry a lot -- sometimes I'm not sure he's even an NBA player.
