Any Fan Interest in Former Hawks returning to Atlanta?

Post#1 » by Jamaaliver » Tue Nov 27, 2018 3:08 pm

Seeing long-time Atlanta Brave Turtle from Entourage Brian McCann return to the fold years after departing in Free Agency makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.

Read on Twitter

So, how would Hawk fans feel about reuniting with some dearly departed former players?

Demarre Carroll is an UFA next Summer. Mike Muscala and Thabo Sefolosha are also UFAs in 2019.

Jeff Teague and AL Horford have player options giving them the opportunity to hit the Free Agent Market next summer.

Paul Millsap
could also be available next summer as the Nuggets have a Team Option.

Additionally Kyle Korver is just waiting by the phone these days...hoping to be traded.

Would you guys be in favor of bringing back one or two (or more) of these veteran players to help guide the baby Hawks (eyases?) into a new golden age?

Who would you prefer at this stage. Any of them starting caliber, or would they only be options to come off the bench?

If we're truly looking to compete as early as next summer, I'd be in favor of bringing back Millsap, Korver and...Horford.

All were considered leaders in their time here and could help both on the court and in the locker room.

AL especially should be extended the chance to end his career with the team he started with. No player drafted by the Hawks in the last 3 decades -- has meant more to the franchise than Horford.

Korver meant a ton to fans and the community, and the wealth of knowledge he could share with guys like Huerter and Cam Reddish would be immeasurable.

I have 3:
Kyle Korver - he can teach a thing or two about shooting from 3
Paul Millsap - steady calming professional, goescabout the business of basketball
Thabo Sefolosha - maybe he can teach Prince a thing or two about defense.

The rest, I'd pass:
Teague and Horford will be picking up their options, plus Horfy went Green and did some flippant fake Thank you.
DMC seems to be always injured.
I always have high hopes for Moose, then he dissapoints. Miss the Moose goggles though.

6 years late with the tribute but...

I'd take Marvy Marv back- he didn't live up to his #2 pick billing but he's carved put a lengthy career not being the man.

....look what was in the Marv tribute article (posted above)....

Horford decided to sign with the Boston Celtics in the summer of 2016, hours after the Hawks signed Dwight Howard. Horford announced the move via Twitter immediately.

Later that same night, a quote from Horford’s father came out that the move was motivated by a lack of fan support in Atlanta. His father also said that Horford alluded to his experiences playing in Boston on the road in his career, and being somewhat jealous of how passionate the city’s fans were. Three days after being scrutinized by Hawks fans on social media, Horford posted this heartfelt, two-sentence screenshot on Twitter.

Nothing heartfelt about that

Korver and Sap. No Thabo for me he went clubbing with the Morris brothers instead of taking us to the finals.

Korver is the only guy i'd like back. I love Sap but hoping he gets on a contender. I don't think any of them would want to come back here now.

Yeah, I'm with you there. While I have serious reservations regarding the judgment of uniformed police officers, getting into a shouting match with a cop...at 3AM...at the scene of an attempted murder...is dumb.

Im fine if Korver goes to a contender but he's been to the finals already. Twice. (or is it 3 times) If he's just going to languish in Cleveland or go to Minny or Miami or some other also-ran then i'd rather he be here.

:D Hawks played Cleveland. There were two - did not play, coaches decision. Korver and Plumlee.
I wanted to swap the two then and I still do!

True Korver been twice. Don’t get me wrong I love everything about Sap and want him to go as well. He’s my top 10 ATL Hawk ever. I know tough list!

Oh Comon Gramps. Outside of the fact that Korver is a better teacher, shooter, teammate, player, smarter, better dad what else does Korver have on Plum? Lol.

Plum can jump outta the gym! There’s that! I mean most times he’s already lost the ball on the way up but it’s fun to watch...
