Hey so I'm embarking on a litte project to compile fanbase approval ratings for the rookies your team drafted (or traded for on Draft night). Very simple poll like a Presidential approval. Use whatever subjective or objective criteria you feel is necessary to decide.

Ugh. Probably the only player in the league with no hustle, off ball, or defensive value. Elite passing skills rendered void by poor ball protection, vaunted shooting range nonexistent. If he’s in the NBA in 3 years it’s because the Hawks are still knee-deep in a tank.

Disapprove

If i was the GM on draft night, I would have taken Doncic, Khyri Thomas, and Mitchell Robinson.

I was wrong about Kevin Huerter, he has been the only good news from the 2018 draft.

I was right about Mitchell Robinson, he is doing great for the Knicks with very limited minutes but putting up great defense and energy. The jury is still out on Khyri

But i think my 3 are better than Travis' 3.

I mean we have a rookie PG who is top 10 in the league in assists on the worst shooting team in the league. Top 5 in scoring among all rookies. Seems the expectations are a little out of whack here.

Trae Young >>> Dennis Schroder. Trae got Schro traded out of here, so that's a winner for me.

Approve. His potential is extremely high. His floor is just extremely low. Similar trajectory to D. Fox

He didn't take Trae #3, he took him at 5.

We still gotta see who our other player is before we make a statement on it.

Yeah, gotta be patient. Nothing about him or his game should've indicated he'd hit the ground running in the NBA. He'll need time.

In addition, I think it's quite clear he's (hopefully temporarily) suffering from an acute case of Hawk-itis.

... oh, ya'll don't know what that condition is? I may be violating some copyrights but here's how WebMD describes it ...

What Is Hawk-itis?
Hawk-itis occurs when a player is being consistently asked to do or be something greater or different than his actual 'game' is suited for doing or being.

Symptoms?
Hawk-itis is typically accompanied by taking more shots than a guy should, guys taking shots in game situations that don't suit their abilities. It is also often accompanied by guys trying to 'take-ovah' when he should really just go with the flow of the game.

How Do You Know You Have Hawk-itis?
(a) When you can't consistently dominate your matchup because you don't (yet) have the game or support do do so;
(b) Your name is Bazemore, Kent;

Having said that; I'm all for Trae needing a couple of years to develop into a well above avg NBA PG. Nothing to say he can't do that. Schlenk sure looks like the NBA clown right now though... nothing to do with Trae... just .... nevermind

Eh, we're family. No need to hold yer tongue. Can't be worse than anything I've said about him in the past? :lol:

Speaking of things I've said in the past, I just want to say I think one of the longtime posters here has a severe case of Hawk-itis.

You know who you are.

In a bit of high-level scientifical analysis, I also want to point out that Young has been on the struggle-copter since he stopped wearing them ugly low-top high-yella shoes. Now that he's wearing them equally-ugly, funny-looking high-top dealies he's lookin' like gar-baje.

Dang, I feel like I'm comin' down with a case of hawk-itis after that post. I gotta sit down.

Very happy with his passing and attitude. Disappointed with his shooting. Not surprised by his D.

Didn't like the trade but not sure that is what is really being asked for. All the same, I can't help factor opportunity cost into the equation to some degree. And knowing what the trade means will take both seeing how he and a certain other player develop and seeing what comes of the second Dallas pick.

Needs more time in the oven to really bake before I've got a judgment on him.

Approve. Improve shot selection, let game come to him, get his swag back.
