Fanbase Rookie Approval Rating: Kevin Huerter

Post#1 » by EvanZ » Sun Dec 9, 2018 5:23 pm

Hey so I'm embarking on a litte project to compile fanbase approval ratings for the rookies your team drafted (or traded for on Draft night). Very simple poll like a Presidential approval. Use whatever subjective or objective criteria you feel is necessary to decide.

Glides across the floor on both ends, sneaky athleticism, pure shooting stroke, advanced understanding of momentum, ball protection, and spacing for a rookie. Quick passer. Really no glaring weaknesses, should be a very good starter for a long time.

:D One of the writers at CNN/SI has offered up the nickname

RED PEPPER

for rookie Kevin Huerter. What do you think?
By the way, this writer really likes him as most of us here do.

I approve of the Red Mamba. Huerter definitely has the tools to be a very solid glue guy on a contender. He'll have a long NBA career imo.

Also approve of him but not of a knock-off Kobe Bryant nickname.

Matt Bonner was the original Red Mamba so I can't approve that for our Red.

Red pepper is alright but maybe a little boring?

Tabasco? Hot sauce? :-)

Huerter is a high IQ player with sneaky athleticism as others have said, who knows how to play really well with other players, and understands the game surprisingly well for a rookie. He brings a lot more than the sweet stroke from 3 that was his calling card.

True. Bonner had the original poor man's Kobe rip-off so giving to Huerter a second hand, poor man's Kobe ripoff is totally unworthy of our young Hawks. :nonono:

Easy approve. He has potential and is an average NBA player right now. A steal where we got him.

Underrated defender who has great mechanics on the defense side. Unselfish offensive passer, as well as a deadly shooter with again the great mechanics. He’s like our own Tim Duncan...

Fundamental red! And yes I agree with this pick at this slot. He’s a breath of fresh air and a throwback type of player.

Shout out to Huerter, who just had his best game in his short career so far against the Mavs. 19pts, 66% from three and 55% from the field.

I was really impressed with Huerter on both ends last night. He was more aggressive offensively and played great defense on Doncic. He actually locked him up pretty good a few times. There's something about Schlenk and these #19 picks. I see no reason to not continue to start him even after Prince comes back. The only things his game is missing is NBA experience and strength.

He was starting alongside Prince before the injury. Baze went to the bench.
