Kevin Huerter recorded his first NBA double-double

The former Terp had 14 points and 10 rebounds in Atlantaā€™s loss to the Nets

Kevin Huerter has enjoyed a very good start to his rookie campaign for the Atlanta Hawks. On Wednesday, Huerter put up his first NBA double-double in a 116-100 loss to the Brooklyn Nets.

The former Terp shot 6-of-15 from the floor, tallying 14 points and grabbing up 10 rebounds. Huerter also led all Hawks in minutes played, as he was on the floor for 37 minutes in the loss. He hit a couple of tough shots for the Hawks, including this nice turnaround jumper.

This kid is the real deal. All he needs is to hit the weight room during the Summer.

Huerter has already officially cemented himself as the SG of the future for the Hawks. Huerter did it a lot faster than Young who has still yet cemented himself as the PG of the future for the Hawks.

Heck yes I approve! Anyone who saw the game last night and the way the kidā€™s played all season approves. From dayb1, he did it the right way imo.

Love red fundy to get stronger but be careful when you say ..ā€add weightā€ ..itā€™s adding proper weight that his frame can handle. Donā€™t pull a smoove here.

Yeah if you're not encouraged with how Trae Young has come along, I don't know what to tell you. He went from what he did in college with "trying to take the league over" to being pretty pass first. If the last 16 games for him continues to an extent for the rest of the season, he'll have set himself up nicely to have that year 2 jump.

On topic, I've been loving what Kevin Huerter is bringing. He at the least looks like a future glue guy SG that can average 15 PPG on 46% FG/40% 3PT/80% FT and he could well be more than that if he builds on what he showed last night.

I see a very high ceiling with this kid, one of my favorite rookies. He had an excellent game against us. I think he can be an elite shooter in this league, but I also see him as someone who will be able to do more. Who would be a good "best case scenario" comp for him?

We will all say Klay and that's the most obvious but he's not like Klay. Klay was better off the ball on both sides of the court but Kevin is better on it in that he is more of a threat to score or pass with precision as rookies. So a different type of Klay. Defensively, him and Klay are a lot alike, especially as rookies. Klay may have had better length but Kevin is more agile.

Kevin is nice. His ability on the ball is next level. Once he learns how to slip into sweet spots off the ball and read the D better, he can be special on offense.

The Red Mamba becomes the Black Mamba... but that would an absurdly high threshold to attain. Realistically, a mixture of Allan Houston and Chris Mullin.

I thought of Allen Houston, although he was a really bad defender, Huerter will better on that end for sure. Heck, he is probably already better. Mullin would be amazing. I think I would take Mullin for Luka as a best case scenario comp, if someone would put a gun to my head right now.

He isn't as skilled as Mullin was as a rookie and maybe never will be. I think Kev is more balanced than those two.
