Game Thread: Pacers @ Hawks -- 12/26

Hawks going for 4th straight as they host hot Pacers

The Atlanta Hawks shoot for a season-long four-game winning streak on Wednesday night, but they'll have to do it against the Indiana Pacers, one of the hottest teams in the Eastern Conference.
Atlanta (9-23) hosts the Pacers on the heels of their 98-95 win over Detroit, which gave the young Hawks their third straight victory. Indiana (22-12) has won two straight and nine of its last 11 after beating Washington 105-89 on Sunday.
The Hawks survived against the Pistons, despite being without John Collins, the team's leading scorer (18.5 points) and rebounder (9.9). The second-year forward missed the game with a left ankle sprain and will be re-evaluated on Wednesday morning. Collins has posted a double-double in eight of his last nine games.
With Collins ailing, the Hawks were able to lean on veteran Vince Carter. He scored a season-high 18 points and helped offset the loss of production provided by Collins.

The Atlanta duo will have its hands full against the Pacers. Indiana had a season-high 57 rebounds against the Wizards on Sunday and has had 50-plus rebounds in six of the last 10 games. But coach Nate McMillan said the team needs to focus on ball security. Indiana ranks 17th in the NBA with 15.0 turnovers per game.

This is the second of four meetings between the two teams. The Pacers won 97-89 on Nov. 17 and have won the last three meetings and six of the last seven against Atlanta. In an odd scheduling twist, they will meet again on New Year's Eve in Indianapolis.

Pacers are a fundamentally sound team. I think they get us tonight. Hopefully we make it close.

No surprise if they 'get' us. John wall was supposed to eat Tray alive, Griffin and Drummond was to pummel us inside with no JohnC., but yet here we are winning 3 straight games.
As long as we don't get boat raced in the 1st and 3rd quarters - Hawks remain in games.

Hey...I’m with you. Let’s stay in the game. I’m just saying the Pacers aren’t the Knicks or the Pistons. They are actually held accountable by Bird or whoever.

So Bembry at PG and Lin at SG? Not sure why Bembry is so aggressively trying to make stuff happen, he keeps getting stripped.

Another solid opening! Just a matter of finding a second gear now that the Pacers are back in front. Get it, Spellman!

Lin is cooking. Methinks he wants vengeance for getting hurt against Indy last year in the 1st game of the season. He's aggressive, moving well, and finding open players. He needs to keep this up and not disappear as he's done in past games. That hesitation driving layup was slick as ****, and good box out by the big man to seal off the big man defender.

ATL needs to clean up their TOs, otherwise theyd be up. Bembry got 3 straight crushing momentum shifting TOs that led to easy buckets, it looks like LP wants to develop his play making, but he's trying to do too much. Needs to learn to pick spots.

I always insist that if you're a team called Pacers that doesn't play at least top 15 in Pace, after a number of years, there should be a vote on a name change. Then again, I suppose methodical is a "pace", of sorts.

"We got the King of R&B, Oladipo right there." That's right, Migos. I'll take Victor over Jacquees any day!

It should be evident to Schlenk that Prince is super-expendable. The team just moves a step quicker without him, nothing he brings (if anything) has been missed during this win streak. I can’t take these telecasts seriously when the Migos are “interviewed” every other game. Listening to Nique fail elementary English is bad enough.

Keep Linsanity as backup 1. Trade Gaze and Printz for an All-Star 2 or 3 then start The Huert beside him: Ice Très, The Huert, All-Star, J-Bap, Dedmon Walking.
