When will Trae be as good as Doncic?

Post#1 » by atlantabbq99 » Thu Dec 27, 2018 3:22 pm

When will Trae become a better player than Doncic? How long do we have to wait? When will Trae become a better shooter than Doncic? Even though Trae is 1 year older than Doncic.

Will it take 1 year? 3 years? or 5 years?

Will Trae be able to make an All Star team before Doncic makes an All Star team?

I think he will get better in the next three years. I wanted Doncic. At this moment Doncic is better because of playing in a professional league longer, getting better teaching, food and training for the body.

I keep seeing Doncic as a Joe Johnson. Trae will need to get better shooters around him thou. Which is why I think his other two draft partners are big. Right now the defense refuse to let him take open jumpers. If Spellman and Huerter can grow with Trae... That will mean the defense will have to worry about their open jumpers too. I still see no signs that will not make me think the three can't get better together.

The thing that worries me is that scoring does not easy come easy for Trae, he has to really work for his points. Doncic looks like scoring comes easy for him. They are both natural passers however. I think Trae will have a triple double at some point if he hustles on boards.

I would say never.

Trae would literally have to develop a clutch gene and start to play any kind of defense. He is an undersized PG and someone who can't defend his shadow. That is worse than a wing who is average at defense because you can't hide him behind anyone.

Even though Trae is a very nice PG when he plays under control, but if you put him on Mavs team, he is just a bench player. Luka is so far ahead of him it's not even funny.

No we lost this trade. Trae will be a decent PG but he will not be a star player. Undersized and no defense just like the scouts said. I like Trae but should have not been a #3 pick, I know we picked him #5 but it was our #3 pick .

Young will be a solid starter for the next 10 years, like Marvin Williams, and just like Marvin, he will never be an all star or MVP candidate.

Doncic like Chris Paul will make +10 all star teams and will be in the consideration for MVP for a few years in his prime.

Just another bad draft for Atlanta.

I think some fans are still hoping for a Blake Griffin, Step Curry situation to happen to Trae Young.

Blake dominated his draft class for the first 3 years, but eventually Curry stepped up and became the HOFer he is.

Sure, but Steph is the outlier among outliers. His career is one of the most stunning in NBA history.

A better question is when will the Luka Doncic Threads stop? Why make another thread as soon as the other 1 closed?

Not sure about better but as good or impactful, probably 3rd year. Off the ball Movement, body development and experience is what Trae needs.

It was an outlier but not really. Most PGs take time. Especially one learning to be one like Steph. Trae is learning to be better off the ball period.

I think Trae could be out right better in 3 years, maybe longer. He has a long road to get there, but he looks like he can average 10 assists a night for his career. His shooting and defense both need to improve tremendously, but it can't be much worse. Doncic has been great like I thought he'd be, but Trae's passing is special.

The Suns and Kings forums on realgm aren't doing this. I don't remember this much whining after we picked Marv over Paul. We are now an hour and a half past awkward at this point and closing in on "cringe" fast.

I'll say this much, I think Trae will have a better career than Marvin.

What's the point of comparing them now? Last i checked neither has done much of real importance in this league.
