Now we all know Al is about to be 33 next year. He is outside of our timeline.

But he can be a FA next year.
He is an excellent fit with what we do.
He spreads the court at center and covers space extremely well.
His game can last for another 3-4 years at a high level.
He is a leader in the lockerroom.
He is my favorite player

This thread is going as planned. I wasn't expecting too much support if any at all. Just throwing it out there that it might be our best option at center. I been looking at the draft and FA and I can't find anyone who fits what we have with Trae, Kevin and Collins better than Al. Al is still an elite role player. He isn't as good as he was last year but I think that's more to Boston getting rid of their best units to play Tatum and Kyrie at the same time which eliminates the optimal lineup of Kyrie, Smart, Brown, Morris and Al.

I am going to be pushing for this. I still think Al is the most underrated Hawk of all time. Then again everyone here knows how I feel about Al.

He is the only free agent I really want this offseason that I think is possible.

He would really smooth out the rotation

Bazemore/Prince likely a high 1st wing like Reddish
Collins/Spellman
Horford/Len/Plumlee

I think that would be perfect!

Considering how we currently play and ask from our bigs, Horford is the only fit on the market. Everyone else just wouldn't be natural. We are a high pace team, we need movement players. No better movement big in the NBA than Al and no better movement PF in the NBA than Collins.

I'm gonna get so flamed for this but ....objectively .... he'd be the type of C/player that would help us at this stage in the process.

That said, he'd be too expensive for the role we need which is basically the story of his existence overall.

In reality, it'd be doubtful he'd want to come back here to be a rotation guy.

I know, I know. I am always team pay Horford but I would offer 4/80 to 4/85 for him. Yes, the 33 year old when FA comes. His game is ageless. I think he can play his style if healthy till the late 30s. So much of his game is movement and intelligence.

Outside of him, we don't have any big ticket items on the books for 2020. He is perfect for what we need. He fits the way we play better now than even when Bud was here.

This team is one move away like this from probably 44 wins. Especially in the east

He's moved on, so should we.

Since he still hasn't gotten to the Finals, I doubt he'd be interested without an overpay.

Horford is the one who wanted out. And his family burned the bridges back to Atlanta.

Schematically, he’s a perfect fit.

I'm shocked I'm actually saying this, but he would be a good fit. However, I wouldn't pay him anything past a three year deal approximately $17 million a year.

Horford clearly wanted out. The contract the Hawks offered was only $6 mill less than Bostons. The way he left doesn't exactly make me want to root for him again either.

Yall say he wanted out but we weren't that good. Boston had the assets and at the time, the best player, Thomas. We can get mad about it but Ferry, Bud and Sund did not draft well.

In just two years, Schlenk got Collins, Kevin, Omari, and Trae. These players are better than anything we have ever drafted. Maybe Al was an elite pick but that was a no brainer. Oden and Durant was gone. He was the only one left. Other then that, meh. It was even worse with Babcock.

At the end of the day, Al did the best thing. Two years, two ECFs. He damn near lead Boston pass LeBron. Al is a beast and he does so much for winning Basketball. That's my #1 FA. He would turn this train into a leer jet

He's a great fit, but I'd worry about his game regressing. Collins and Horford cover up each other's deficiencies, but I don't want to be stuck with a center that can even grab 12 pts 8 boards a game on a big contract.
