What type of future big man should the Atlanta Hawks look to pair with John Collins?

As Collins looks more and more like a long-term building block, the Hawks will have some decisions to make on how best to pair him with other big men.

A player with Dedmon's skillset on offense with better hands, with a little more size, a little more rim protection and overall speed.

Yeah. Maybe a guy like that Bryant guy for WAS?

I wouldn't mind an 'energy' big like WCS should be? Or like a non-deathbed Tyson Chandler-type. Like an Adebayo.

It'd be a guy from the draft or off somebody else's bench. I certainly wouldn't (over)pay for one.

WCS strikes me as a low IQ player plus he's looking for a BIG payday this offseason.
Yes on the Bryant type guy from WAS.
Ty Chandler wasn't a shooter, i think we need a guy that can step out and shoot just a little.

A long, athletic defender that could cover for Collins and (especially) Trae would be ideal. It would be exciting to have someone like Robert Williams on the defensive end. Only more mature and a better shooter.

Al Horford
Marc Gasol

That's about it for what might be available in FA

My dark horse Joakim Noah.

He can defend and pass.

If we can get a steal due to his injury, I’d take Johntay Porter. Can shoot pass handle and defend. Question marks about his body/fitness will probably be amplified by his knee injury though

Marc Gasol would be a decent pick up even though he probably never leaves Memphis.

^Both of those are solid choices.

Johntay Porter seems like a legit option for us in the draft.

Bamba is someone we might be able to get in a trade. Taurean and the Mavs 1st. Bamba will likely be an impact and good enough spot up shooter. I think their current big is balling, so they could be looking to flip Bamba for a player and a lotto pick.

Speaking of him, Vucevic is also a UFA and would be a huge upgrade. He would be awesome next to JC, but he’s not necessarily a game changer defensively.

You think he would fit with Collins. Seeing Collins in space on D is :nonono:

That's the million dollar question.

I honestly don't know.

But offensively they seem perfectly suited.

Collins lateral quickness is bad and below average for a PF. It's strange because he is agile as hell on offense.

Yeah. Collins is great. But I've definitely noticed some warts on defense (and offense).

Looking back, Jaren Jackson Jr would have been a fantastic fit next to Collins. Stretches the floor offensively, and is an elite defensive big man who can somewhat mask JC's flaws on that end.

I agree but I still rather Trae. The question is, if we could have gotten JJJ with another pick, that would be perfect but I am pretty sure a lot of teams feel the same way.
