Boogie Cousins is back tonight

Post#1 » by King Ken » Fri Jan 18, 2019 3:51 pm

I have been watching all of the NBA centers this year and really none of the FAs have stood out as good fits and the ones who have, have lost a step like Horford and Marc Gasol.

Cousins is who I am watching next. Boogie like JaVale has been the anti thesis of winning Basketball for most f his career till GS. I want to see iimprovement in off the ball defense, PnR defense, communication on both ends, defending in space although he defends the rim pretty good. I want to see better movement on offense and I want to see good decision making skills. He has more talent than just about any big but he was always lacking in winning areas. If he can show that. He should be our target in FA and his relationship with Nique should be the driver for it.

I'll be watching just the same as you. If we can get fill the hole at center, we can be done with this rebuild after this year. I'm not expecting everything with Cousins first game back, I just hope he's able to at least move around on defense, and be able to contest shots. His offense I imagine won't be too affected by the injury. Does Cousins have a relationship with Nique though?

I watched Boogie. He clearly didn't have his legs and he looked like Dedmon some. Not as good at movement but way better of a post threat, passer, shooter, and screener. He looked okay on defense. Better than usual just due to his energy on defense being higher and him communicating more but I saw him doing this at NO as well which gave me some interest in bringing him to Atlanta.

I am interested. But clearly looked like a MLE player in his first game back. That's an great thing. It means he might be a 20+ million guy fully healthy

I’m hoping he ruins the warriors chemistry.

I wouldn’t hold your breath. He has fit pretty well everywhere he has played.

I agree with most you said, he was reminding of Dedmon in the role he was playing for them. But he put up 14/6/3 with 3/4 3pt shooting in 15 minutes. That's a lot better than you'd get with the MLE. It remains to be seen how he progress from a solid debut but if can keep it up, he immediately shoots up to #1 on my free agent wish list. Signing him would essentially allow us to draft whoever we want and develop them however we need to.
