Carmelo Trade Likely to Save Hawks a Few Dollars

Melo will be traded with a nice handful of cash to the Bulls and then waived by the Bulls. This will save the Rockets $2.6M in luxury tax and put $1M in Chicago's pocket.

If Melo is resigned by someone else, Atlanta will also save money. If he is resigned by another team after being waived, the Hawks will get an offset against whatever he signs for by that new team.

So let's all root for Anthony to get as much money as possible from his new team after his second dump trade in the last 8 months.
