I'm not sure this is the year to have multiple Lottery picks
I keep looking at the prospects and no one excites me. Even at the top of the draft with RJ Barrett and Cam Reddish... They don't move the needle that much for me. There are only a couple of guys in the top 15 that can actually shoot. Maybe we should be sellers this year again or hope that Dallas lands one of the top 5 spots.

I like this years draft. I think Barrett is going to be a special scorer and Reddish could end up being a all-star two way player. I agree about the lower half of the lottery being weak but think one of the bigs could be a solid fit. I would rather trade down and grab another pick later, than Dallas getting in the top five.
Cuban is going to have a boat load of cap with both DeAndre and Mathews contracts expiring. I expect him to load up on better talent next season for a solid playoff team; even if he misses out on the big fish.

When you are rebuilding you take as many shots in the lottery as you can.
The more chances you have to pick, the higher the chances that you get a couple right.
Besides, we can always trade one for a slightly lower pick and get another 1st again next year.
Atlanta needs talent and depth.

I can't really speak to the talent of this draft class, but I have wondered if there's any value to spreading our picks out a bit (or packing both for one). 5 firsts in 2 seasons is a ton. That's a lot of really young players trying to develop at the same time. Then you have to worry about paying them all around the same time.
Everything depends on how the lottery shakes out.

I didn't think we'd have 3 rookies on the team last year. I thought we'd try to package 19 and 30 (which we were actually trying to do, but some leak about who the Bucks would take kept Schlenck from having to do so). I thought pick 30 woukd be a draft and stash.
I thought Huerter would be GLeague fodder, Spellman would be playing more if he stayed off the food and trainers table.
Not all picks pan out, they won't all be paid the same amount, we can trade them for future picks (similar to Prince right now), or a disgruntled 'star'.

RJ Barrett might be a really good defender but can't shoot a lick. Also shoot a floater around the rim that doesn't go in. He is about as inefficient as Bembry. Reddish can't shoot either and is not as good of a defender. He also is wildly inefficient. He struggles to finish in traffic.

Last years draft had more depth in my opinion.

Throw stats out man. Just watch him play. He’s got that NBA game and that NBA 3 point stroke.

Reddish is still learning to play off the ball at this level. He went from being a PG to maybe the 3rd (or 4th) ball handler. I still think something is missing for him in the motivational department but I definitely haven’t considered that he’s just isn’t used to the role he’s been asked to play.

I'm not seeing much from him all year. Not enough to select him top 5.Spud2nique wrote:peoriabird wrote:Spud2nique wrote:

There’s a lot of high quality wing talent that could push him to late lottery-mid first. He definitely shouldn’t be considered much higher at this point.

Reminds me when we drafted Marvin Williams so high and the mistake that was. He should have gone much later.EazyRoc wrote:HMFFL wrote:I'm not seeing much from him all year. Not enough to select him top 5.Spud2nique wrote:

Predicting the draft is going to hard after the first couple of picks.

Re: I'm not sure this is the year to have multiple Lottery picks
I mean I don't know how you can "watch a guy play" and throw out stats, when he's clearly throwing up a lot of bricks. Are we supposed to ignore the bricks too and watch his aesthetics and simply assume he'll be able to suddenly get buckets efficiently in the nba after failing to do so in college?

Let's playin for 9th!

Does Barrett need to work on his shot? Sure he does. Inefficient as Bembry, I don't think so.
Barrett:
TS% .534 eFG .505
Bembry:
TS% .494 eFG .475
Pay attention to his smarts. He shut down the three point attempts and went 8 of 16 in the 2nd half. 11 boards and two blocks thrown in for the fun of it.
