Hawks & Philly, discussing Markelle Fultz

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Thu Feb 7, 2019 2:32 am

The Philadelphia 76ers are in an impossible situation with former No. 1 overall pick Markelle Fultz. Elton Brand and Philadelphia’s front office are now all-in on a four-man core of Joel Embiid, Ben Simmons, Jimmy Butler and newly acquired forward Tobias Harris, leaving some level of uncertainty (at least outside of sharpshooter J.J. Redick) with the rest of the roster. Beyond that, Fultz hasn’t appeared in a game since Nov. 19 as a result of thoracic outlet syndrome and the former Washington star has battled unprecedented (and high-profile) struggles with his jump shot during his professional career.

Philly just dealt multiple first round picks today. The Dallas Mavericks futurenfirdt is probably what they wanted.

They're not getting it. Fultz's value is tanked.

Oof. I’m willing to take a chance on Fultz but the Dallas pick is just too much of a risk imo.

What people see in Fultz is beyond me.

Dedmon is far more valuable than Fultz. I don't really understand why the Hawks would be even remotely interested in him.

Its the magic of the draft! Everyone who was highly regarded have to be good players right Andrew Wiggins?

I'll do Dedmon for Fultz. Perfect buy low candidate, not interested in attaching more than a second however.

He was drafted #1 for a reason, he's only 20, and people think his physical/psychological issues are fixable (especially with our staff and facilities + the low pressure environment). Personally, there is some level of intrigue, but I don't like his contract situation. I definitely wouldn't give up a first or Prince to take the gamble.

Anthony Bennett was drafted # 1 also. So what?

So you read the rest of my post and compare the two players beyond their draft positions.

Apparently Philly and 27 other teams don't agree with that assessment because they don't want him either

GMs don't like his contract. As I said initially. Anyone who trades for him will probably be committing about $21m to him over the next two seasons. That's a lot for someone so unproven. You asked what people saw in him and I told you.

I only assumed Elton Brand inquired about the Dallas first round pick.
I'd still take a chance on him with a future first. Just not the Dallas pick.

Poor value of assets on your behalf. He is not worth a 1st on any level. Even our OKC 1st.

I'm thinking that Philly only wants cap space for Fultz, because they intend to resign Butler and Harris and the Hawks and Magic will just be throwing out 2nd round picks to them.

Exactly, I hear nonsense like Ross or something. Orlando is not trading them Ross for Fultz. We sure as hell are trading Prince.

Fultz isn't just a cripple right now, he is a well paid cripple. That's not an asset, no matter how sunny side up you want to put this. Reclamation projects are cheap or low risk with high reward. Not high risk and costly. If it's high risk, it better be heavily discounted.
