The Hawks’ local TV ratings are up slightly this season, but still near the bottom of the NBA.

Ratings in the Atlanta television market for Hawks games on Fox Sports Southeast have increased 3 percent from this point a year ago to 0.60, which is the fourth lowest among the league’s 30 teams in their home markets, according to a SportsBusiness Journal analysis of NBA ratings at the All-Star break.

The Hawks’ rating means 0.60 of every 100 households in the Atlanta market — or about 14,000 homes — have watched the team’s telecasts on average.

The only NBA teams with lower ratings in their local markets this season are the Orlando Magic (0.44), Brooklyn Nets (0.47) and Los Angeles Clippers (0.53), according to the SBJ study. The Golden State Warriors have the highest local rating at 7.43. On average, local ratings are down 10 percent across the league.

Could it be because there are no free National Televised games on TNT, ABC etc. for the Hawks so the casual fans won't pay to watch on NBATV?

I wonder how much of the TV viewing numbers are affected by how people are actually watching the games - does watching it on DVR 1/2 hour after start of game count? Is it just regular TV viewing, what about phone viewership?

If watching it 20 minutes late on a YouTube subscription doesn’t count as ratings, that really stinks cuz that’s my routine and I watch all 82..or at least all that are available and that’s pretty much 82 these days. In any event, it will go up with Trae soon.

4th worst?

In the whole league?!?

Wow!!! What an improvement!!

Things are looking up Hawks fans! That 3% increase is just the beginning.

I do like that baby-bump, Three Percent Higher and Rising! The eyeball counts for the rest of the season might dip a tad post-Lin, but I'd be more concerned if this were some 50-plus-game winner pulling those kind of ratings.

Aside: New Yawkers really don't dig the Nets, huh?

With so many folks cutting out cable I wonder how accurate the measurements are. I record every game on YoutubeTV and watch it there. So does that count as me watching every game?

Anyway, when we win, people will watch. Not sure golden state was doing that great when they sucked.

No, there were no Warrior fans. I had 3 or 4 friends that were loyal to GS from the days of Winston Garland and even before with Sleepy Floyd. Now I know about 120 warrior fans....

And believe me, I didn’t become Mr. Popular in the last 4 years..

I've PM'd looking to understand it. RealGM leadership has chatted with me some on the subject and this thread deletion came out of left field. I'm in the dark on it as well. Let us connect and get level-set.

Haha, you're definitely not gonna make it. Ya'll need to stop talking about it or some-a them dudes will follow.

I actually don't mind the site so much. Well, not as much as I thought I would.

Kinda glad some-a these squawkers got the chance to experience exile.

Since the NBA's app stinks out loud, I've had to resort to streaming the games via other methods. I'm part of the ratings problem.

This, this, and more of this. I cut the cord years ago and well, use other measures to watch the Hawks for a fraction of what traditional cable and satellite subscribers pay (four-letter word, starts with 'I', ends with 'V'). I'm pretty sure I'm not a part of the count; and I"m also sure that I'm not alone...
