MCW won it in his first week which is what they were talking about with Shaq.

I may be missing a few, but here are the players I found that have won POW as a rookie since the award was given to each conference. It is definitely rare for a rookie to win the award and Trae should have 2 of these!
March 25, 2019: Trae Young
April 9, 2018: Ben Simmons
April 11, 2016: KAT
Nov 4, 2013: MCW
Nov 15, 2009: B Jennings
Feb 5, 2006: CP3
Feb 22, 2004: D Wade
March 14, 2004: Melo
April 11, 2004: Melo

Either way it's pretty rare. Just glancing at that list it doesn't look like LeBron, Bosh, Durant, Griffin, Kyrie, Rose, Wall, or Curry won. Melo, Paul, and Wade did. Melo was the only two time winner I noticed from that class to now.
