Would any of you do this trade for the Hawks?

Post#1 » by Threezus » Mon May 20, 2019 1:56 am

This is based off a trade thread in the trades and transactions part of the site.

Would anyone do this deal if we could resign him to a longer contract?

In a 3 team trade

Hawks trade
#10 + Huerter + Prince + 2nd round pick

Wizards trade

Bradley Beal

Lakers trade #4 + something?

Hawks Receive

Bradley Beal - Extended contract for SG

Wizards receive
#4 + Prince

Lakers Receive

#10 + Huerter + 2nd round pick

Hawks team now sits at

PG - Trae Young
SG - Bradley beal
SF - Cam Reddish - 8th pick
PF - John Collins
C - Vucevic or Boogie Cousins

or if we could pull this off

PG - Trae Young
SG - Bradley Beal
SF - Jimmy Butler - big free agent pickup
PF - John Collins
C - Bol Bol, Jaxon Hayez, Brandon Clarke, Trade for Mo Bamba (your choice at pick 8 who you like most)

Would either team interest you going forward and would giving up Huerter be worth it to you to do so.

We're deliberately trying to develop young, controllable contract talent, and from all indications, waiting until the 2021 free agent bonanza to add to that young base with more veteran players.

I like that plan, at least at this point since we're this far down the tanking road, and I would not be interested in "skipping steps."

That i know of this wouldn't really be skipping steps it would just be choosing different FA's earlier than in 2021. But to be fair the reason i would want to trade for one like Beal is i have very little belief the Hawks could talk any big time FA to sign here without already having one like Beal in the fold via a trade thats partially why i would want to get him. If i knew for a fact the Hawks could pull a star FA or 2 in 2021 then i would be all for waiting but based on our very long history of not being a Big FA Destination can we and how much faith do we have it can without having one already via trade?

Naw, not really. I like Kevin for Trae more than Beal long term. Pass for me.

Fair enough reasoning i like Kev alot myself as i think he has Klay Thompson or better upside. I think he has alot of klays game but better athleticism and passing. Rather he reaches it or not is another thing but it's worth betting on and i can see why you wouldn't want to trade him for sure. My only thing is trying to figure out how were going to get a high tier FA to sign here but hopefully Trae or Collins is looked at as a future superstar by other players in the next few years and wants to come play with him and pair up.

I don't know about Klay. I think he's more of a Mike Miller type with crazy range. He has more of an all around game than Klay at this stage but doesn't have the shooting or scoring potential Klay has. Kev can shoot but Kev can't score in as many ways as Klay. Klay is an off the ball menace.

Nope. Huerter and a #10 pick to grow together is a return on investment.

Plus, the age timeline doesn’t not make sense. Huerter is 20 and Bradley Beal is 25. Huerter has a higher ceiling.

The age thing i don't think is a problem 25 is still very young as Bembry, Prince etc.. are still around that age. If he was like 32+ then i would see that more as a problem but he would still finish his next contract at 30 or younger. As far as Huerter having a higher ceiling i would say that depends on who you ask. Considering i thought he could be a more athletic Klay Thompson which is pretty high for a ceiling lol. But ole Ken up there is thinking a Miller type of guy and others have said Reddick or Korver. To me Beal is much better than all of those guys and it's not close outside of Klay. If Huerters end game is any of Korver, Reddick, or Miller than i would have no problem moving him for a 25/5/5 guy. But if his end game is a Klay Thompson or better guy then i would rather have Huerter + that 10th pick.

Yes. We'd have to strongly consider it, and I would absolutely pursue this.

Beal -- under contract, in his prime for multiple years -- would be huge for us.

It'd makes us a FA destination for 2020 or 2021. And we still are filled with youth and have long term flexibility.

I would absolutely do this.

I’m gonna stick with our timeline and Kev but not a horrible trade. I’d just like to continue building what we are building and I think it’s a year too early to make any big name trades.

I don't see why Prince and #8 would be bad deal for Hawks for Beal. I'm sure Lakers will give up more but he's a great player and could fit in nice with Hawks. We could make sure to keep one Max slot open for the next year in case Draymond or AD are actually FA
