Absorbing cap casualty

$40M in cap space - Hawks

If the Atlanta Hawks are willing to absorb a cap casualty, in what scenario is a team desperate enough to ask us to Trade down and swap 1st round picks and add an incentive future unprotected 1st round draft pick?

Scenario: With Anthony Davis requesting a trade, playoff caliber teams in desperate need to unload salary to position themselves to sign AD will probably field offers to the Hawks.

I am under the impression that we are looking to compete for a playoff spot next year. Not sure that that is the kind of move you make if you are competing.

With $40M, even if we will be 'competing' for the playoffs, from what TS said, we won't be early FA players, sit back for value FA signings (I'm thinking in the Len mpld) meaning we'll still have capspace to take on salary (1 year deals) for an asset.
