Watch on YouTube

Sekou at 10?

Also, at Sturt and whoever else who may be wondering, starting around 7:18 you can clearly see Travis Schlenk in the background. He's def on the Hawks radar.

Thanks, I guess it's a good thing to have threads locked due to post quantity..

Thank you for pointing out Travis in that video. His gaze looks intense.

From what I saw, but it's not enough, I would prefer Sekou over Nassir, for sure

... while Sekou just hit 10 straight 3pts shots from the 45° right spot

There may not be a player in the entire draft that is better prepared to immediately impact an NBA game or an NBA playoff series than Hunter. He turns 22 years old in December — remember, he’s a sophomore, but he spent his first year in Charlottesville redshirting — and, at 6-foot-7 and 230 pounds with a 7-foot-1 wingspan, is a ready-made, multi-positional defensive menace right now. He is the perfect blend of big-enough-to-guard-fours and quick-enough-to-switch-onto-guards while also shooting 43.8 percent from three this past season and just under 42 percent from three on 160 attempts in his two-year career with the Wahoos. He’s stiff, and he’s more or less limited to being a straight-line driver, but playing as a small-ball four in a league where the three-point line is pushed back and the space created offensively makes the college game look as muddled as a mojito, he should be able to attack close-outs just fine.

Simply put, I do not think there is a better defensive prospect in this draft, and I would not be surprised if Hunter ends up making NBA All-Defensive teams during his career.

The problem, however, is that Hunter’s ceiling isn’t all that much higher than his floor.

Which is where the question about the value of a draft pick and what a team is looking for when picking in the first half of the lottery comes into play.

Hunter, at this point, is something of a finished product. There are things that he can improve on — his handle can be loose, there are some folks that aren’t fully convinced that his stroke will translate to the NBA three-point line, being more aggressive offensively would make him more dangerous — but whoever ends up drafting him knows exactly what they are getting. He’s going to be an elite defender that has the upside of being one of the more useful 3-and-D role players in the NBA.

In a worst-case scenario, you’re getting the healthy version of O.G. Anunoby. What’s more likely is that you end up with DeMarre Carroll.

Is that enough to pick him in the top five?

My Trade Up Idea

Hawks swap the No. 8 and No. 17 and a second rounder for the No. 5. pick. Keep the No. 10 pick from the Cavs and the Hawks take Culver at 5. Then swap the No. 10 pick with the Celtics for the No. 14 and No. 20 picks. Take best available. Lots of good players in the 14 to 20 range.

Also Cleveland has the No. 26 pick which I might trade to get in play. If we are offered 8 and 10 then I would want to get something more back. Maybe the 26th pick but I really don't like 8 and 10 for 5.

I don't see Culver fits with Huerter, I think they are very similar players while Hunter and Reddish fit so much better. I would not make that trade

Thanks for sharing but that chart is almost worthless. It does not take into effect the tiers of the players. Pick one should be worth more like 10,000 points. Pick 2 and 3 and almost equivalent then a big drop a 4. Do you really think different of picks 3 and 4 of 180 points is a late second rounder?

Makes is hard to know what it will cost to move from 8 to 5.

I guess it's worth what Travis is willing to pay and Cleveland would take. But it's clearly not only a late second rounder.

He did one last year that explains how it works.

Omfg ........ "Code Reddish"?

He just soared (like a hawk?) up kg's draft board based on nickname value alone.

This is why we hate you, purple hazer.

Or with the rumor of the 10th being shopped, he could also search to keep the 8th at 8, but trade up from 10 higher than 8, but I'm not sure what he could get with 10+17... I don't see it enough to get the 5th, and getting 6 or 7th makes no sense as CHI and PHX wants a PG

I'd like 10+17+35 (and/or 41/42) for 5th, and get 5th and 8th if it's the only possibility to get both Reddish and Sekou

I don't know if the trade for 17th pick and a future first is linked to this, but fact is that the two players that goes up in each mock draft on Basketballinsiders, for example, are the ones we want the most here : Reddish and Sekou
Sekou was 12,13,14 in the previous mock, and is now more around 10, and Reddish was at 8 but is now up to 5 with CLE (PHX and CHI should go for a PG so White or Garland)

Maybe Schlenk supposed interest for both make their interest increases, or they are increasing themselves
