Hawks get their backup PG for the next two years and moves up in the first and second round. It eats into the 2021 cap, but it's still enough to offer a max slot to someone.

Charlotte gets off of the Rozier contract and is able to completely bottom out for a top pick in the 2021 draft while still keeping their young players.

If Edwards falls to #3, then it is a big YES for me.

That's how our bigs will be in perpetual foul trouble if we can't at least pretend to have some defensive resistance on the perimeter. I'm just not interested in a mini me backcourt.

This seems like a pretty good offer for the Hawks. Rozier for free, except for the two years at about 18.5 and moving up in both rounds. I think that we don't want to pay a back up PG that moch to ride the bench and he would be very unhappy in the role but I figure we could second trade him somewhere for better fit. Maybe bring in two role players with matching salaries. Possibly one or both on one year deals.

Draft upgrade is the gravy. I do this trade

It would also put us in a great place to do a trade down for someone that wants the #3 or take one of Edwards / Wiseman / Avdija

If OKC goes full rebuild and Chris Paul ends up in Phoenix, what would the Hawks give up for Ricky Rubio and Kelly Oubre? I could be wrong, but I really like what adding those two and 6th Overall does for the Hawks.

Thunder get:
???? from Atlanta

Hawks get:
Ricky Rubio
Kelly Oubre

Suns get:
Chris Paul

That's tough for me. Rubio would help us but I don't think oubre does. Not sure I'd give up any core pieces for that deal.

I like it, but for the Hawks I think I would cut OKC out and do 6 for one of those guys + 10 if Phoenix is up for it.

Nope, keep 6 and keep building.

I don't think so, but at least of the 3 trades that's the only one that gives me pause. The other two are horrible value for the Pistons and Knicks.

I don't think TS wants to move down that far.
Bamba - there is something that intrigues me but then it doesn't. Just hasn't shown a level of consistency or improvement so fard that I would have like

Atlanta Hawks: Derrick White Becomes Trae Young's Bodyguard

Image

The Trade: Atlanta Hawks acquire Derrick White from the San Antonio Spurs for Kevin Huerter.

Who doesn't love an old fashioned challenge trade?

Here, the Atlanta Hawks would secure a defender capable of handling the opposition's most dangerous backcourt opponent, shielding Trae Young from the nonstop attacks he's faced his whole career. While teams will still hunt Atlanta's high-scoring guard whenever they can, at least with White the Hawks can force them to work for the matchup they want.

White is among the NBA's best shot-blocking guards, which speaks to his length and ability to pursue ball-handlers into the lane. The San Antonio Spurs have defended better with him on the floor in each of the past two seasons, and as an added bonus, White isn't a defense-only option.

He's a career 36.4 percent shooter from deep. That's not quite in Kevin Huerter's league (38.3 percent), but White has a bit more on-ball zip, athleticism and interior scoring ability than Red Velvet.

Huerter's value to the Spurs would be in his youth and pure stroke. He's just 22, four years younger than White, and would lend offensive balance to a roster that has to compensate for DeMar DeRozan's refusal to spread the floor. His stretchy scoring would make sense for a team that already has Dejounte Murray entrenched as its defense-first point guard.

Plus, the Spurs are quietly much closer to the rebuilding stage than the Hawks. White will be due for a new deal next offseason, while Huerter is under team control through 2023. In a year, LaMarcus Aldridge and DeRozan will be gone, so Huerter's youth and upside should be of more value to San Antonio.

I still really this kid. I'd consider trading #6 for #11, #41 and Lonnie Walker IV.

Don’t think they’d give us all that for #6 but I like him too. Still a raw talent, just needs to understand how good he can be and learn how to be a steady contributor.

I've proposed many a #6 for #11 and White or Murray. I guess we can add Walker IV to the list too.

https://www.yahoo.com/sports/five-nba-draft-lottery-trade-ideas-just-crazy-enough-to-consider-163602300.html

To Charlotte: No. 6 pick, John Collins

To Atlanta: No. 3 pick, Miles Bridges and Cody Zeller’s expiring contract

The Atlanta Hawks make most sense as a trade partner. The frontcourt fit between John Collins and Clint Capela is an awkward one, and Collins is a year from restricted free agency. The Hornets have so many needs, it is hard to know where to begin, but a walking 22-year-old double-double is not a bad start, so long as they believe they can still get a player they like with the sixth pick. Meanwhile, the Hawks would have greater assurance they get their guy at No. 3, adding Bridges as a better wing fit next to Trae Young.

I have a couple issues with this:
1. We really don't know exactly how the fit is between Collins and Capela will work since they haven't played together, there is an assumption that it is 'hawkward', but I would at least like to see it in action first before making a conclusive statement.
2. who is the guy are actually trading up for - who is the Hawks guy at No. 3?
3. Bridges is a better wing fit next to Trae by what metric? I'm asking what makes him a better wing fit than either Huerter, Reddish or Hunter.
4. Who play's PF for the Hawks after we give up 20/10.

I'll pass!

Not trading a young Kemp just yet. We can wait in this no need to move up in a draft that we should wisely stand pat or move down.

Trade Idea from the Ringer:
Trade: The Spurs send DeMar DeRozan and no. 11 to the Hawks for no. 6.

Return to Atlanta Hawks
