Are they planning on holding him out the entire season?

2. Nobody can take money. Of all the limitations to the trade market, this one is perhaps the most important. Even if we had willing salary dumpers with toxic deals to unload, there is no place to dump the money.

Let’s start with cap space, because nobody has any. Twenty-nine teams are over the cap; Atlanta is the only holdout and the Hawks are only $5M under, not nearly enough to grease meaningful trades for other teams.

I expect him to play this season but later on so he can still qualify for ROY next season.

Sounds like Tony Parker might be a solid Team Owner:

If he plays any amount at all in the NBA this season, wouldn't that disqualify him from ROY next season? I know he can play G league and it wouldn't disqualify him.

A group of Dallas area kids got the chance to shop with a former NBA star Tuesday night. Jermaine O’Neal and the Drive Nation Foundation gave 40 low-income families $500 gift cards and took them shopping at Target. They partnered with Ronald E. McNair Elementary School to choose the children who participated. The kids were able to pick out toys, take photos and talk to O’Neal.

The league has suspended IT for two games for entering the stands to confront a fan.

Bobby Marks: 2 game suspension will cost Isaiah Thomas $32K.

Karl-Anthony Towns trade rumors: Warriors monitoring situation as Wolves star reportedly unhappy in Minnesota

Golden State has been "monitoring Towns' situation in Minnesota," and multiple team executives note that the young star is currently unhappy, as reported by The Athletic's Ethan Strauss. Given that Towns is only in first year of his five-year, $190 million contract extension he signed prior to the start of the 2018-19 season, the Timberwolves have no incentive to trade the big man just yet. This season hasn't gone the way Minnesota had hoped, but if it has sold Towns on getting him help over the next couple years, then it can be patient. However, as Strauss reports, the Warriors have a wealth of assets at their disposal that could be packaged together to potentially bring Towns to the Bay Area.

Add their young potential star in Russell to intriguing prospects like surprise rookie sensation Eric Paschall, G League dominant Alen Smailagić, plus a high draft pick and you have a package that could facilitate a superstar trade.

Minnesota has been on a ticking clock to get Towns some help, and if the reports about him being unhappy are true, he could become the next star player to demand a trade, which could force the Wolves to deal him.

I hope not!

LeBron James says he can see himself passing Kareem Abdul-Jabbar to lead the NBA in all-time scoring

And if LeBron James can age as gracefully as Kareem Abdul-Jabbar did, he may just be the second Lakers star to take the all-time scoring lead.

National Basketball League (Australia) analyst Corey Williams reported on Monday night that a source close to him confirmed that Ball has been offered a sneaker endorsement deal worth $100 million. But just as eye-popping as the dollar amount is the perks. Williams' report stated that along with the $100 million, LaMelo's sneaker endorsement offer includes a private jet.

Congrats to South Gwinnetts own Lou Williams.

Congratulations to Los Angeles Clippers guard Lou Williams, who became a father for a third time last week to a son named Syx. And yes, it would appear that Williams bestowed that name on his kid in honor of the award he’s won three times — Sixth Man of the Year, which he’s won in 2019, 2018 and in 2015 while he was with the Toronto Raptors.

Wait, wait, wait...

We've needed defense, depth and a veteran voice all season -- and Justin Anderson was available the whole time?!?

It's worth remembering we drafted this kid and sent him to Charlotte for a future 2nd round draft pick...

More like Charlotte TOLD us who to draft on their behalf since we had traded the pick BEFORE the actual selection was made. So, even if we had kept the pick we don't know who the Hawks would have selected.
And it was 2 future 2nd round picks.

The Pacers are about to get better.

Victor Oladipo (knee, quad) said he's targeting the Pacers' home game against the Bulls on January 29 for his return.

Oladipo did caveat this statement by saying it could change, but a December report from Adrian Wojnarowski indicated that Dipo was targeting a late-January, early-February return, so this update from Vic himself jives with that timeline. He hasn't played in a year, and was brought back a little too quickly from the knee injury last season, so expect the Pacers to be extremely cautious with his minutes early on. He's worth stashing if you've got an open IR-spot, but we'd keep our expectations low here.

Royce Young: Russell Westbrook has arrived. He’s wearing a shirt that says “Zero Regrets.”
