J.R. Smith and the Lakers are finalizing a deal for the Orlando restart, ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski reports.

This was inevitable since Avery Bradley opted out of the Orlando restart, as the Lakers have been in talks with Smith since then. Now 34 years old, Smith last season in the NBA (2018-19) was a bit disappointing with the SG hitting just 34.2% from the field and 30.8% from deep for 6.7 points per game. There's no guarantee he has a rotation spot, especially with Alex Caruso next in line for more minutes.

Nine NBA players tested positive for coronavirus out of 344 tests administered from June 24-29, according to Shams Charania.

That's a new total of 25 players who've been positive since testing began on June 23. The most recent batch represents a 2.6% positive rate, but overall it stands at 7.1%. The NBA is still barreling toward the re-start of the 2019-20 season in Orlando, even though Florida also reported a new single-day high with 10,109 positive tests on Wednesday. The league specified in releasing the numbers, "Any player, coach or team staff member who tested positive will remain in self-isolation until they satisfy public health protocols for discontinuing isolation and have been cleared by a physician."

Congrats to Deron Williams for finessing the Nets 3 years after retirement

They’ve been paying him $5 million a year since 2015!

84 and 96. I personally liked the 92 draft as well even though I’d rather not talk about our pick that year.

1991 was a special one for me as we selected the guy I wanted from college in the plastic man Stacey Augmon. In about 35 drafts, there has been only a few times when the Hawks got my guy and 91 was Augmon.

“I’ve put on probably about 28 pounds since quarantine,” Bamba said recently. “We did the whole body testing when we got back in, and I’ve only added about 2.5 percent body fat. So, a lot of it is muscle.” This is a major development for the 2018 no. 6 pick. Bamba’s sheer size—7 feet with a 7-foot-10 wingspan—automatically makes him an intimidating paint presence who can deter opponents from dribbling inside. He’s made tangible defensive progress this season, too: Players shot 10.7 percent worse within 6 feet of the rim when Bamba is around than they normally do, per NBA Advanced Stats. Now, added strength could activate his immense defensive potential; he should be able to withstand contact, battle against bigs, and rebound better.

NBA Draft 2020 Rumors: Anonymous Exec Thinks 1st-Round Picks Will Be for Sale

As the NBA deals with the financial repercussions of COVID-19, teams may look to cut costs on draft night.

"I suspect first-round picks will be for sale in this draft," a team executive told ESPN's Brian Windhorst. "We haven't really seen that in a decade."

A first-round pick hasn't been sold since 2013, when the Denver Nuggets gave the rights to Rudy Gobert to the Utah Jazz. Teams are limited in the amount of cash they can trade each season, and they have increasingly hoarded draft picks because players are on cost-controlled contracts for their first four seasons.

"I don't know what will happen, but I may lose $50 million next season," one owner told ESPN. "If that happens, I have three options: I could borrow the money, I could sell part of the team or I could do a cash call and me and my partners would have to write checks."

Few are going to feel bad for a group of billionaires who are taking a temporary financial hit on an appreciating asset. However, the NBA and all professional sports leagues are going to have to deal with the realities of the financial hit caused by the pandemic.

T.J. Warren went off in Saturday’s win over Philadelphia, as he scored a career-high 53 points (20-of-29 FGs, 4-of-4 FTs) with four rebounds, three assists, two blocks and nine 3-pointers in 40 minutes.

One night after James Harden scored 49 points, “Tony Buckets” surpassed him for the top scoring game in the bubble. Warren, who was traded to Indiana by Phoenix last spring for a second round pick and cash considerations, shot 9-of-12 from beyond the arc and was virtually unstoppable. He scored 19 points in the first quarter, the first sign that the 76ers had no chance of slowing him down. Warren’s career night more than made up for Myles Turner being limited to 20 minutes due to foul trouble. Malcolm Brogdon (neck) being out of the lineup freed up even more looks for Warren, and boy did he take advantage.
