Doc Is going to load manage Joel Embiid.

_______________________

76ers head coach Doc Rivers anticipates that Joel Embiid will have some load management next season.

"Ben [Simmons], when healthy, seems to play more games right now," Rivers said. "Joel seems like he’s gradually upticking, which is a good thing. It’s not just that. It’s minutes. It’s practice time. It encompasses a lot of stuff. Every team has to deal with it, and we’ll have to deal with it here, and we’ll probably figure it out." It's not hard to imagine Rivers putting Embiid on the same load management schedule he had with Kawhi Leonard, so once again fantasy managers will have to weigh the risks of his durability concerns and frequent rest-related DNPs when choosing him in the early rounds -- Embiid has never played more than 64 regular season games.

Gentry, who spent the last five seasons coaching New Orleans, brings one of the NBA’s most respected offensive minds to the coaching staff. Kerr believes Gentry’s experience with coaches like Doug Collins and Mike D’Antoni, blending with Walton’s connections to legendary coaches like Lute Olson and Phil Jackson, could benefit the Kings. “That’s what you look for in a staff, these historical connections and how they can blend together,” Kerr said. “And Alvin is just really good making these connections and helping an offense find a really good rhythm and groove. I think that’s what he’s going to help bring to Luke and Sacramento.”

Something else to keep an eye on: some agents who represent top point guard free agents believe the Knicks would poke around on a potential Russell Westbrook trade if Houston makes him available. It’s worth noting that Westbrook, per sources, saw New York as a welcome landing spot last summer when Oklahoma City was talking to teams about potential trades.

This felt inevitable. He's taking an interesting collection of assistant coaches with him, too.

The Miami Heat are preparing to go "all in" on its pursuit of Giannis Antetokounmpo should the two-time MVP become a free agent at the end of next season.

It's important to remember in all of the Giannis-related rumors that there's no guarantee that he hits the open market next offseason. Milwaukee can offer him a super-max extension this offseason, and while many believe that it would be in his best interest to refuse to sign and test the open market he may believe that the positives of re-signing outweigh the negatives. The Heat angle has been discussed for quite some time now, with the volume growing loudest during the second-round series that Miami won in five games. And with 2021 in mind, the Heat have long been reported to have the desire to maintain maximum cap flexibility in preparations for free agency. Giannis appears to be the franchise's top target, but once again there's no guarantee that he'll be a free agent.

It's going to be entertaining to watch a 61 year old (I believe) act as if he's adapted to the new league and have the random yelling at his player(s) sessions. Zion is going to be like, WTF.
