Lakers acquire Anthony Davis and what it means for Atlanta?

Post#1 » by HMFFL » Sat Jun 15, 2019 10:36 pm

The Pelicans have agreed to a deal to trade Anthony Davis to the Lakers for Lonzo Ball, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart, and three first-round picks – including the No. 4 overall in 2019 Draft, league sources tell ESPN.

Adrian Wojnarowski, ESPN 4m ago

New Orleans has had significant interest in talks with teams in recent days on the fourth overall pick, and those talks are expected to continue over the next several days, sources said.

Teams are already expressing significant interest in the fourth pick, sources said, with talks expected to continue over the next few days.

If it's #10 and #17 and 2nds sure, not interested in trading #8 or all 3 1sts like I've seen elsewhere.

I don’t think Pels do it for 10 and 17 for 4. Actually, that would be 3 rookies joining Ingram Ball and Hart. Ya it’s possible. Unlikely but possible.

I've heard a number of Hawks fans say this...

Is there really a huge difference between 8 & 10?

Agreed.

Are you thinking it'd require a future 1st?

Yup. I don’t think we have a player under contract that would interest them. Bembry?

10+17+Bembry but ya most likely a first.

Jamal I was thinking your dream result might not be far off. Draft Sekou at 8 and trade 10+asset for Wendell. That is if the Bulls don’t covet him.

Can we do anything with that Cavs pick coming to us in the future? The Korver one?

Giving that pick back to Cleveland is the most valuable play.

It allows them more flexibility in future trades.

That trade for Wendell after drafting Sekou (or even Cam) could leave us with a perfect starting 5.

Trae (2nd year)
Huerter (2nd year)
Sekou (1st year)
Collins (3rd year)
Wendell (2nd year)

:o sorry I had to see it on paper...

Wow. We would be a problem in the east for a while. Young and ready. I’m in!

I believe the Pels move up a spot or two in the draft. They can team Zion with RJ Barrett.

Before the trade went down, word was that both Pels and Lakers were attempting to find a 3rd team as a taker for the 4th pick, and some also maintained that the 3rd team would need to take back Solomon Hill as part of the deal.

So, assuming that's still the intent, these are some ideas as to who might be in the mix...

It's important to get the player you want, not the player you a left with.

Right.

Which is why trading into the #4 spot is so important.

If we're competing with PHX/WAS/Boston/CHA for that pick... it's going to cost us #8 and change.

That's just it. It's not necessarily going to cost us anything at all.

Don't panick yourself into giving away assets.

Good bye to one of 8 or 10. Simple as that. You gotta move up to get Cam or whichever wing you covet.

No, not really.

If they're still looking to move that #4, as Woj says they are, then it's entirely dependent on what the needs are of the team they deal the pick to.
