Well, it is Golden State. Not like we can expect a 2020 #41 or better... more like we just traded #41 this year for #60-ish next.

Travis making trades makes me nervous.

Oy.

This deal is remarkably similar to that of the trade with Miami in that the same future draft (2024) and cash structure was used. In the trade with the Heat, the Hawks acquired $1.88 million, leaving the $1.3 million reported figure for the Golden State trade as the maximum allowable under NBA rules.

The key part of this trade evaluation when compared to that of the previous trade, however, is the absence of protections...a league source indicates that the pick acquired from Golden State is unprotected and will convey as such.

My bad on that previous post.... my eyes skimmed over the "2024" part.

Normally, or at least routinely, you see this kind of trade go down during the draft, not before... holding out to the last second to see what's the best offer you can possibly get.

The inference could be that Schlenk just wants to have these picks already addressed, so that he can give complete focus to what is on the hot stove for our #1s.

Is THAT WHAT YOU REALLY WANTED?!?

Nine players in their 1st, 2nd or 3rd year on the same roster?

Sounds like chaos -- with young guys all jockeying for PT, shots and their share of the spotlight before they get jettisoned like Dorsey and Taurean.

Makes a lot of sense. Keep ownership happy with the cash, defer the pick until far in the future.

Maybe not - select 2 wings (Culver and Sekou) , 2 bigs. (Goga and Bol).
The GL would be close by: send Sekou and Bol for assigment to College Park for the year.
By next season, Baze, Crabbe, Plumlee - gone. Len is a FA.
The two GLers are more prepared to step in.

I can dream Jam, I can dream.

Not enough roster space for all the rookies. Schlenk said that selling off the picks would be a last option if we can't find any trades, and it looks like that's what it's come to.

Good move to trade another second rounder. I’m sorry it was to the scrubs though. We need to hang onto #35 though that’s a key pick in this draft. The range of the pick and the depth of the draft makes the 35th a late first in any other draft. Early second round is Okeke and Jerome baby!

What does the money we get in these trades do for us? I'm a little naive with how the salary cap works, but does that give us more room to sign players without going against the luxury tax figure? Or is it just money back to the franchise?

All I can say is it doesn't count against the cap for either team.

I think this is a sign that they won't be consolidating a couple of the FRP's into a higher FRP.
