Dr. J left UMass after his junior season and signed with Virginia of the ABA in 1971. The Hawks then signed Dr. J in 1972, before MIlwaukee drafted him in the 1972 NBA draft. Imagine a big 3 Hawks lineup of:
Maravich/Hudson/Erving
