Hawks tell Trae help is coming

I'm not good at embedding tweets, but Real GM just posted on Twitter that, "Hawks Tell Trae Young Roster Changes Coming Soon." Here's a link to that article:

https://basketball.realgm.com/wiretap/256404/Hawks-Tell-Trae-Young-Roster-Changes-Coming-Soon

In the article, it mentions that, "a high ranking official of the Atlanta Hawks was seen telling Trae Young that they would be getting him some help on the roster soon." This was also reported by heavy dot com today.

Wonder what these changes could be?? Obviously JC is back on the 23rd, but are they they looking to bring in some shooting help? A starting caliber Center? I don't think it's necessarily a good sign though that Trae is already getting frustrated about help in year 2 when the team is so young. Also, injuries and Collin's suspension have set this team back. I hope Schlenk doesn't have to stray from his plan to keep Trae happy. Patience.

JC is coming back. Trade our expirings vets Parsons, Turner, Crabbe.

Nice catch, man. The excerpt from The Athletic.

Atlanta Hawks

Frustration has been mounting within the Hawks organization at times and league sources say it resulted in an emotional locker room scene involving star point guard Trae Young following a recent loss. The Hawks have lost 11 of their past 13 games, including eight by double digits. They have won two of their past three, though. After a 130-118 home loss to Brooklyn on Wednesday, one high-ranking team official was seen telling Young that the team would be getting him some help on the roster soon, according to multiple sources. The trade deadline is about two months away.

To be fair, Atlanta (6-17) has been without John Collins due to a 25-game performance-enhancing drug suspension and had Kevin Huerter on a minutes restriction to start the season before he missed time with a shoulder injury. Those are two key pieces in the Hawks’ rotation that have been missing. The team could look to replenish its lack of veteran presence on the roster prior to the trade deadline.

You could see the BKN and OKC picks going out too. I think our core 5 and this year's first are untouchable. But outside of that, nothing would surprise me.

Recent interview with Travis says he won't make a move just for the 7-8th spot.

It is the last year for a top 5 pick in their development so Trae has to have more patience.

I don't. We got assets in Bembry, Parker, and expirings. As well as tons of 2nd rounders.

To trade a 1st means we are trading for a significant asset like Steven Adams. I doubt we will do that

It just depends on what you think was meant by "help is coming" and the caliber player we're pursing. Those firsts are lottery protected so I could see them being included in a package for a good, young player. I just don't think we're getting much for Bembry, Parker, expirings, or 2nd rounders that match the quote "help is coming."

I think "help" simply means our injured and suspended are returning soon.

But that doesn't sell clicks so Shams paints "help" as if it meant, "Ohhh sh*t, Hawks finna trade for Beal, McCollum, Adams, and whatever else ain't nailed down!"

Now that sells clicks.

I don't agree with that. I don't think an executive pulls Trae aside and says "help is coming" if he's only talking about JC and Huerter coming back. That makes no sense logically.

That's what I thought too... ha, ha... Collins returning soon...

Well, I believe there are some possibilities we could use and do not damage our future too much.
I understand Trae, as carrying the load every single game is disgusting. Maybe the franchise just thought that some creation help is enough.
Bembry is not playing bad, but he is not the secondary creator that once seemed to become. Turner, to my disgust, has not been the point forward that used to be.

I believe some other player that could help carry the load of minutes at PG should be enough. We will be needing that sooner or later and Trae could benefit from some veteran guidance, as he has been out there alone to learn the ropes of the league from a PG point of view. At least a veteran player in his position would be welcomed, so he has not to play so many minutes at such a high level...

Now, the options...
When JC is back, we will have 5 bigs. Considering Fernando is a rookie and is a 4,5, as he is not a center neither a forward right now, but can play both more or less, we have Len and Jones at C and Collins and Parker at 4. Obviously Parker and some of the expirings (Crabbe, Parsons) have all the numbers to leave.

Who could be interested in trading away a veteran back up pg and a good player for two expirings, one of who can really play (Parker) and the other one will free millions in 6 months?

I'm more saying whatever someone "heard" probably wasn't anything to write home about but they probably put $100 on $10 to beef it into something to get clicks.

I tried to tell them weeks ago that this would happen and no one listened! Nobody busts hump drops 28 and 8 and loses night in and night out and begin to want to be in a diff. situation.

Saying help is coming soon doesn’t make sense to refer to players already on the roster. It just doesn’t make sense. The pressure has always been on Schlenk to shift gears once Trae showed that he transitioned from young star to superstar/franchise player/whatever you want to call it before someone chimes in with semantics. Y’all have to be naive as hell to think a winner wants to keep losing especially when he’s going above and beyond to help his team win.

The Hawks had loss 11 of 12 after the Nets game. The bad streak just got the best of him with no Huerter and Collins especially. Somebody probably had a one on one to assure him it will get better.

They will probably make a move for a young defensive big/pg help by the deadline, nothing major... They finally get some lotto teams this month so it should pick up. The Bobcats game was their best game of the season and a sign of what's to come this month.

We can make a big move but clearly can't make a significant one

Regarding the Hawks situation, I don't see why he would not be patient, he knows there are injuries and that it could be really worth it to get a good pick on the long term run.
The only reason I see giving him frustration would be that media are always comparing Doncic and him as if they were traded for ech other, which is wrong because it was Doncic for Trae+Reddish, and that Doncic is having a slighty better season but his team is winning.
Now, DAL didn't get the same injury report than ATL this year ;-)

We don't know where the BKN pick will end up, we don't what will be our own pick,... so I wouldn't give them unless it's for a player who can really, really, make an impact

I'm worried you guys will take a look at Love. He'd be good for you in the immediate future, but may turn into a 28+m backup while not being a good fit with JC.

Me too. However, that would run contrary to everything our GM has said since undertaking this tank. No step skipping. Acquiring emoLove would represent the ultimate in step-skipping.

Love is 31 for 30 million per for 4 more years. Cleveland gonna have to attach a 1st, maybe two protected ones
