If New York Knicks management was looking for a measurable change when it fired coach David Fizdale, it's getting it. In the five games since Mike Miller took over on an interim basis, the club is at least competitive.

In Fizdale's final two games in charge, the Knicks lost by a combined 81 points. In the five games since Miller replaced him, New York is 2-3 and coming off a 2-2 road trip. On Tuesday, the Knicks play their sixth game under Miller -- and second at home with their new coach -- when they host the Atlanta Hawks.

Atlanta's 6-21 record is tied with New Orleans and New York for the second-worst mark in the league. The Hawks are on a four-game losing streak and are 2-15 in their last 17 games since Nov. 12. Only five of those defeats are by single digits, and the Hawks twice allowed 150 points in that stretch.

Atlanta enters off one of its better defensive showings when it held the Los Angeles Lakers to 42.9 percent shooting from the field in a 101-96 home loss on Sunday. Atlanta may be without the other part of its starting backcourt if Kevin Huerter sits out. Huerter injured his left shoulder in the fourth quarter Sunday and has yet to reach double figures in six games since returning from a shoulder injury Dec. 4.

The Knicks won three of four meetings with the Hawks last season.

Question: If we combined the rosters of the Knicks and Hawks (from tonight's game) and then took the 14 best players from either squad, would that squad still be one of the worst teams in the league?

Absolutely not. Giving the Hawks Mitchell Robinson at center and Frank Nitty or Dennis Smith Jr at backup PG would be a huge upgrade over what they currently have.

Knicks hyping the epic matchup of two college legends who played a whopping 5 months of basketball together.

NYK are favored to win by 2 points.
Young and company should win this one.

It’s worse when you realize Collins isn’t fixing this.

Collins fixes this to degree especially on defense just compared to what Parker does for us on that end.

Offensively, he does help with spacing and execution but teams did a good job earlier this season defending him.

Even reports are saying we didn't guard anybody.. Lol

Mitchell Robinson took advantage of not even being guarded for most of the second half of Tuesday's 143-120 win over the Hawks to go off for a season-high 22 points, 13 rebounds, a steal and two blocks on 9-of-13 shooting in 29 minutes.

There are garbage-time specials and then there's what the Knicks, who are ranked 30th in offensive rating, did to the Hawks in New York tonight. But regardless of the fact he was facing the Hawks, who gave up an all-world box score to the Heat a week ago, Robinson looked fantastic tonight, especially in the fourth quarter when the game was clearly over. Owners should think about using this as a sell-high moment, but it's also a reminder of just how good the kid can be. Don't get too excited, but this might have been the game Robinson needed to get his season kick started.
