Lloyd Pierce is broken and needs to be fired!

He is the most immature coach in pro sports today, all he does is sulkk and complain and doesn't know a thing about teaching or being a leader of men.

Remember when Budz only won 38 games in one season, I don't remember him every acting immature at any time, never bad mouthing players, never just be a follower.

Budz is a great coach and most importantly he is a great leader, he is a guy that when things go bad, his players knows that he is still going to stick up for his players and not throw them under the bus and be accountable for the whole team and not blame others.

He's really his own worst enemy with that attitude. Even if he was completetly digusted by the game, he should go up there and talk about the youth, the development and the future. Getting down on this team is a big mistake.

The interview talks about reloading at deadline, but Capela, the only impact player brought in hasn't played a minute yet.

Pierce might want to ask himself what he as coach can do to improve things instead of acting like his players Don't give a crap. Really bad look for a guy who may have zero future as a head coach in the NBA

We can either stick with and support the coach we (the organization) identified as 'their guy' or we can do what bad organizations do.

Which one would you guys choose?

Yeah I’m genuinely not trying to start doing where we just go through different head coaches in a relatively short span. He’s growing just like the players are, he’ll get better at these things.

Exactly. He's got some work to do but giving him support and room to grow/improve is far more beneficial than switching gears before giving them a chance to work through their program.

I'll say it again, bad organizations change horses midstream. That's pretty obvious. We gotta ask ourselves what we want to be.

He looked kinda stressed after that MEM game. No need to get rid of him, but he also needs to realize that his team is in the toddler stage and not throw them Under the bus, even if they lack effort occaisionally

I like LP and he’s growing with his players. I like that he’s raw and not just a machine. Pop gets kudos when he has rants or tears into his players publicly.

The Hawks are 12-14 in their last 26. A lot of those without DD and all of those without Capela and Skal. Skal is forgotten right now, but he will give us another small lift with some quality minutes.

We’re going to get a few good players via draft and free agency this year which will move two of Cam, Kev, Hunter to the bench and give us a very good bench unit to go with a very solid starting 5. We will be over .500 next year and in the playoffs and LP should at least get a chance to coach a playoff-caliber group before these judgements.

Disagree on the bolded part - our starting unit next season is Trae, Huerter or Reddish, Hunter, Collins and Capela.
FAs we sign will be to bolster the bench. Which FAs do you think we are signing to start over 2 of the youngins?

I really want us to make a run at Ingram (who would start) or we could sign someone like Joe Harris who might start simply because we want a pure shooter starting with Capela at the 5. I wouldn’t mind seeing Huerter and Cam coming off the bench with DD and someone like Austin Rivers to give us playmakers and shooters all over the floor at all times. I’m not saying Harris is better than Cam or Kev, but both of them would have more responsibility and opportunity coming off the bench rather than starting. I’d keep Hunter starting and just plant him in the corner on offense waiting for the kick out.

Ooh, that's actually intriguing. He's been a decent backup player.

I think it's more important to have a defender next to Trae in the backcourt vs shooting for Capela.
Derozan is declining his $27 mil option, how much are you paying him and he's not much of a defender either.
Good call on Austin Rivers.

I'm not going to fire Lloyd because of the loses, I'm firing him because of the immature press conferences, how he throws the young players under the bus, how he never takes accountability for the team and just blames others, and the toxic locker room he is creating for the young players.

If he was actually mature and had any professionalism, he would just go in front of the media after a lose and say "The guys played hard but the other team was just better tonight, we still have a lot of learning to do and I, myself need to work harder on coaching and teaching the younger guys. It is going to take time but our young guys have a lot of talent and it's my job to help them along and put it all together..."

The disfunction and culture from the Philadelphia locker room seems to be spreading to the Hawks and it is Lloyd Pierce who brought it...

Meh, firing LLoyd right now feels like an emotional response to a disappointing season...not a logical decision based on necessity.

I'd be open to making a move if there's a coaching prospect we like more (e.g. Kenny Atkinson), but changing for the sake of change seems short-sighted.

NOTE: This isn't dysfunction. The last year under Danny Ferry and then Mike Budenholzer was dysfunction.

This is mere disappointment.

Changing for the sake that he is hurting the development of the Hawks' young players is hyper-important. It would be malpractice for management to let this keep happening.

That's just not true.
All our young players have shown improvement from the start of the season until now.
Defensively, it's still a struggle for the entire team.

Trae has improved (I wouldn't credit Lloyd for this). Red has improved, but only very very recently. Everybody else haven't improved.

NBA owners and executives are reportedly "bracing for the possibility of mid-to-late June as a best-case scenario for the league's return."

This comes from ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, who adds, "Fears exist of a season completely lost." The United States CDC recently recommended that all gatherings of 50+ people be suspended for eight weeks, and if the NBA does resume there's no telling what that would look like. The league is taking an adaptive approach to this evolving pandemic, with commissioner Adam Silver encouraging teams to stay open to "experimental ideas" about "scheduling format, venues [and] television."
