Is John Collins Available?

First I will admit I am a Celtics fan. I do not come here to pick a fight or draw ire. But I think to the best way to see if a trade is possible is to propose it to the other side and see what they think. If they love if you have a chance. If they hate it maybe not. If fans from both teams hate it, it might still have a chance.
I have seen it mentioned that John Collins could be on the trade block as he is a free agent summer of 2021 and he doesn't fit perfectly with Trae Young. This article lines out two potential trades.
https://hardwoodhoudini.com/2020/04/19/boston-celtics-john-collins/I am going to tweek them slightly:
Boston Receives:
John Collins
Kevin Huerter
Atlanta Receives:
Romeo Langford
Grant Williams
Memphis 2020 1st round pick
Boston 2021 1st round pick
Boston 2020 and 2022 2nd round picks.
Williams and Langford have both shown flash and are young so should have appeal to Atlanta. Boston fans love both of them and in typical Boston Fandom believe both will all-stars () And of course draft picks are always desirable.
I think Atlanta might have an extra pick this year which is why I made the Boston pick a 2021 (which is supposed to be a stronger draft).
Grant Williams is a power forward who probably fits better with Cappella and Young. Langford is a guard who does look promising.
Does anyone in Atlanta think Collins is being shopped?

Not 'no' but heyul nawl to that offer.
Is Collins being shopped? Probably not, other than doing due diligence in case contract talks turn sour.
If they trade Collins, it'll be for more established player(s) and not for pick-heavy offers. They are not looking to get younger.
Think something around Collins-for-Jaylen Brown. I'm not suggesting BOS would do that, necessarily. Just saying that's closer to the type of deal ATL would want.

Yeah this is horrible for the Hawks. They give by far the two best players in the deal (both still only 22 & 21 yrs old) for two flawed rookies that haven’t shown much (what flash?), non lottery picks & 2nds? Even taking out Huerter the Hawks quickly pass.
I seriously doubt Collins gets traded (he actually fits great with Trae). His value is clearly being hindered to some by the Hawks record (even though the Hawks were already 18 games under .500 by the time he came back from susp). Hawks should be looking to build around Trae, Reddish & Collins... not Trae & Capela.
Celtics wouldn’t be able to afford Collins next contract any way.

I'll assume you meant Collins?
The answer is No, and not for what you have offered.
Collins is the PERFECT complement to Young on offense in the PnR and his improving 3 pt shooting to spread the floor. He shot 40% from 3 this year. Defense, they both need to improve and Collins has actually done that this year.
How do you figure Grant Williams fits more so than Collins?
Both Collins and Huerter are also young players.
(the comments in the article tell you why this is DOA)

Sorry about that. Fixed.

Like I said. This was based off the article I linked. I figured it was too good to be true. I don't know the other but he could be a Celtics fan. And I also saw it in a youtube video by a Nets fan who isn't a Collins fan.
Brown for Collins could make sense for both sides but Brown's contract is about to explode so that make a trade very difficult.

With the amount of money Boston will be paying it's current players, existing contracts, and extensions, I believe they seek a 4/5 in free agency that won't cost as much. John Collins seems to be a fixture in Atlanta and most fans are expecting him to receive the max.

Best power forward in the NBA.
1. Giannis
2. Anthony Davis
3 a.John Collins
3 b. Pascal Siakam
4. Bam Adebayo
5. Domantas Sabonis
I dunno, I’m biased.

Don't want anything to do with Celtics unless you offer up Tatum. Speaking of which, this dude on their SBnation site had a ridiculous offer which I was going to make a thread about but since this came up already...

He could be available but not for anything less than Jaylen Brown from Boston. Collins could be available to answer your question. It's just that we value him a lot so I hope that helps.

I don't think that is true. Most fans expect to keep him and pay him, but I don't think you'll find many that want to pay him a
25% max.
I think he'll get anywhere in a range of 18-22% of the cap.

Paying him the max would setback this franchise massively in terms of long term growth. Paying him anywhere above 20 mil per is a very risky proposition.

It's not risky unless you think he's incapable of improving at all defensively. We're not going to easily replace Collins with someone superior.

No, it's extremely risky. His impact metrics puts him in tier with guys like Aaron Gordon. Those guys are guys you want to have but guys you should never overpay. No, I don't see it defensively with John. When Dedmon came back and he had to play PF like the way it should be played, he was awful at it. He's a 5 on defense but he's not good enough at it with our personnel to play it full time.
You can easily replace him with someone impact wise comparably. Superior is extremely hard to find as superior options are guys like Siakam. Of course, the elite guys like AD and Giannis as well. Teams aren't letting those guys go at any rate. Guys like John are valuable but they aren't special. In this draft, I would trade a top 5 pick for John if I was in a win-now position and he fit my personnel.

If we trade Collins to the scrubs and they win another one I’m blaming you!

I doubt we will do it and honestly, we shouldn't.

I'd scream HELL NO and hang up the phone if you were just asking for Collins in exchange for that collection of garbage, let alone Collins and Huerter.

What, you don't remember that time in February when the Celtics bench exploded because Grant Williams finally hit his first career 3 pointer? Or that time that Langford scored 30 for the Maine Red Claws in the G league? Doesn't get much flashier than that.

Interesting.
I will wait to judge next season with a full season. Bam has certainly made a name for himself.
