Re: Hawks Roster Revue: 3 Wings and a Biscuit
Q. ..it has been great to see Hunter's marked improvement from Year 1 to Year 2. What do you see as the biggest change in De’Andre’s game Year 1 to Year 2 and has that made you change what you think his ceiling could be?
The AthleticChris Kirchner wrote:The biggest change with Hunter so far is his level of aggression. It’s something not specific but important for him because there were too many games last year when he was invisible on the floor. One stat that demonstrates his aggressiveness is his ability to get to the rim. Thirty percent of his shot attempts came at the rim last year while it’s 35 percent this year. He has limited some of those long 2-point shots he settled for last year and has attacked the rim. This play below is special. He drives, spins and finishes with his off hand.Ball-handling has also been a significant area of growth for Hunter. He looks more comfortable as a pick-and-roll ball-handler than he did last year.Spoiler:
Defensively, he looks faster on the perimeter, which was his biggest knock in his rookie season and why I thought he was much better suited to play the four rather than the three. His performance against Kyrie Irving in the Brooklyn series showed just how much he improved his lateral movement this offseason.
He just looks like a totally different player than the one I saw last season. His growth has been fun to watch.

Q. Nothing against Cam, but why is he starting? Why isn’t Bogdanovic starting?
The AthleticChris Kirchner wrote:Pierce clearly has decided that he needs Reddish’s defense with the starting unit. I thought they would go with Young and Bogdanovic as the starting backcourt before the season began because I figured they would try overpowering teams with their offense, but it’s clear Pierce thinks there’s already enough on the floor, so Reddish’s defense is more valuable with the starting rotation.
Reddish’s offense hasn’t been good and isn’t deserving of a starting spot, but he’s out there because he can guard opposing wings. He’s pressing too much and is a bit out of control on offense. He needs to slow down and pick and choose his spots. He’s playing like he has to make a play whenever he gets the ball instead of making smart decisions. The Hawks should look to work Reddish off the ball more and get him more easy looks cutting to the basket and let him operate that way.
Much like he did during the course of last season, I have confidence he’ll end up figuring it out.

Hunter and Huerter were the smartest players on the floor in this L Vs CHA, and they fight with what they have. So it's on Cam improvement now.

Cam has gone back to that little hopnduring his motion from early last season, he's not shot ready. He needs to call Vince ti get the 'noodle' out of his shot

Re: Hawks Roster Revue: 3 Wings and a Biscuit
This is the best starting 5 we can put together right now. Nice mix of vets and youth; shooting, passing and finishing; defense and scoring.
With Huerter, Reddish, Rondo and Gallinari off the bench, this is realistically a top 5 offense with just enough defense to keep us competitive once we get back to fool full strength.
