You're not wrong at all. Hayward and Oladipo both are examples of the kind of veteran, multi-tool player I have to think Schlenk would love to add, and not just for their on-court production. But the price that BOS or IND would require would have to be reflective of their recent injury history and the lack of any assurances Schlenk would get more than just a single year of service.
