Need some help from the board

Hey guys and gals, need a little help here.

My almost 13 year old dog passed away almost 2 years ago. He was amazing, once in a lifetime dog. After a couple years of mourning and a move to the suburbs my wife and I have decided it's time for a new dog. But, no one dog would ever replace our other dog so we've decided to do the logical thing and get two dogs.

The big question is what to name them. I stumbled upon an amazing name for my last dog back in 2005 when I was really into soccer and was a big Barcelona fan. I had heard about a hot shot 17 year old coming up through the ranks who was going to be a helluva player. Watched some youtube videos and decided to name my dog Lionel. it was a great and unique name and of course Lionel Messi has gone on to be maybe the GOAT soccer player of all time. So I hit a home run there.

Now, 15 years later and I'm no longer into soccer and am now really into basketball. My favorite two players in the league are Trae (obviously) and Luka. So we're thinking of naming the dogs after those two.

So here is where I need your help. Luka is easy, but I'm stuck on Trae. Do we name him Trae or do we go with his actual name Rayford? I like Rayford, but I doubt anyone hearing that would know that he is named after Trae Young unless you are a diehard fan like us. Rayford and Luka isn't as recognizeable as Trae and Luka.

What do you think?

edit: forgot to mention I am talking about 2 yellow labs. Same breeder as where I Got Lionel. They are due to be born Oct 1.

Might as well go Trae and Luka. They'll be tied at the hip forever.

Love the story about your pup Lionel. So sorry to hear of his passing. I love the idea of Trae for sure, Luka not so sure. I think it might be cuter to go with Trae n Cam. :wink:

my nephew is named Cam so that won't work unless i can convince my brother to rename his kid. He's 7 so how attached can he be to his name?

I did think about Ice and Trae. I might have to think about it some more cause that would be pretty cool.

I dunno, it’s just lately I’ve got that movie in my head. I used to like it until I found out that IT WAS A BIG F PHONY FAKE A$$... I digress. :lol:
