Really should have kept Dedmon over Snell. That was a no-brainer IMO

JV is either going to feast or Collins is strengthening his case for a max contract. Nothing in between.

I’m not too worried offensively. I think we’ll be able to run around with them with nobody occupying the paint and Gallo not abruptly halting our fastbreaks.

Question: How do you come up with yr projected starters? There is no reason to not pencil in Hunter as a starter. We're either going to start Bruno to throw a big body at JV or go small with Collins at the 5 with either Huerter or Bogdan starting. In either scenario, Hunter starts.

I'd be surprised if Hunter doesn't get the nod at 4. If Goodwin can't go, I'd expect Mays to get some good run. Wonder if Dedmon would take a 10 day cause all the bigs are dropping like flies.

Sorry. Rules forbid resigning him.

Looking forward to watching how Trae will approach this against Ja. Slow and steady wins the race. Ja might come out blazing but we gotta focus on our game plan and the results will play out well for us. I think we can outlast them today. Having said that, they took an L at home in their opener and will be looking to get their first W.

Let’s go 2-0 for $hits n giggles!

Go Hawks!

Memphis Grizzlies vs Atlanta Hawks Game Preview

What will Ja do next?

Image

It is an absolute shame that Ja Morant’s career night against the Spurs on Wednesday was wasted by a team loss. Morant was simply magical, scoring the second most points in a game in franchise history with 44. The young, resilient Grizzlies will look to right the ship against the new look Atlanta Hawks facing their fair share of injuries.

The Atlanta Hawks will likely be without Clint Capela for this matchup, and Jonas Valanciunas is already salivating. The great coaches and teams all do one thing on offense the same: exploit mismatches. Whether John Collins slides to the 5 or Lloyd Pierce opts to start Bruno Fernando, the first mismatch Memphis should look to dominate is down low.

When a coach has a player with the offensive talent of Trae Young, you do whatever you have to do to keep him on the floor for as many minutes as possible. The problem is that he is equally as bad on defense as he is good on offense. The only thing Coach Pierce can do is attempt to “hide” him on defense. Memphis has to find the player that is being guarded by Young and go at him all night long. There are three advantages to this: it will wear him down, could put him in foul trouble or lead to a bucket.

Prediction

The Grizzlies handled the Hawks rather easily in the preseason despite losing the second matchup. Morant was masterful each game, controlling the game with ease. The Hawks have a lot of roster turnover and injuries to key players. The Grizz should have no issue scoring and will come down to their defense.
