Game Thread: Hawks @ Spurs -- 4/1

Hawks open April with road tilt against Spurs

Image

The Atlanta Hawks continue a seemingly endless road trip on Thursday evening. Trae Young and company visit San Antonio to take on the Spurs in prime time.

San Antonio won the first matchup between the two teams this season, winning by an 11-point margin in Atlanta on Feb. 12. However, the Spurs are in the midst of arguably their shakiest stretch of play this season, recently losing four straight games from Mar. 20-25 and trending toward the .500 mark after a hot start.

Gregg Popovich’s team is also on the wrong end of the rest spectrum in this game. The Spurs faced the Sacramento Kings on Wednesday and, while San Antonio didn’t need to travel between games, the Hawks were off on Wednesday after suffering a loss in Phoenix on Tuesday.

yea we're in big trouble without Collins and Hunter.

I notice they don't even bother updating Kris Dunn. Have they just given up on him ever playing? I know I pretty much have.

Let's get the win.
We have some key players out but Trae and the team need to win. Go Hawks!

Scklenk pulled an April Fool's joke on us saying Dunn should be available to play games then 'end of March' :nonono:

We're gonna need a Nathan Knight breakout game tonight to get this one. Calling for it now.

Clint seems to miss a lot of bunnies around the basket.

Hawks still have problems closing, need to be up 12.

So Bogi on a heater. Yes he is very streaky but when he is on he doesn’t miss and he loves the big shot. Just following on line but why is Bogi not taking any shots at the end of the 4th or in overtime?

Not a single shot since 2:42 in overtime. Just following on ESPN so not sure why. Are Spurs denying him that much?

Good win and back to .500 basketball.

Tomorrow vs New Orleans could be a wash. Clint played 44mins, Snell 43, and Bog 45.

Huge win!
My eyes glaze over when reading alternative stat (not advanced stat) narratives that go many paragraphs long. If you can not make your point in 2 paragraphs it may not be a great point. :D

Capela was 10-10 from the freethrow line, WOW. We needed all those points.

We looked really good. Exquisite individual and team performance all around. Chemistry building game. Ice Trae iced it. Capela and Bogi big plays all night and Gallo probably the biggest with the fake pass and sealing 3.

Go Hawks!

:D

PELICANS LOST BY 5 IN OVERTIME.

HAWKS WON BY 5 IN DOUBLE OVERTIME.

They meet tonight. Should be an interesting game. Both teams tired and missing pieces.
Hawks have 2 starters out. Some Hawks didn't play last night. Perhaps tonight.

GO ATL HAWKS !!

:D
