Hawks vs Bucks pre-ECF talks

Post#1 » by shakes0 » Mon Jun 21, 2021 3:52 pm

Alright, I'm already sick of talking about the Sixers. Time to move on to bigger and better things, namely the EASTERN CONFERENCE FINALS.

SO here is the million dollar question. Who does Trae guard? I know people will look at Milwaukees tall lineup and say it has to be Jrue, but I think it should be PJ Tucker. The guy just sits in the corner, something Trae can do just fine on defense. And hopefully MIL responds by doing something stupid and focusing on trying to post Trae up. Taht would work right into our hands. Would take a good 3 point shooter off the line, would clog up the lane for Giannis and would allow our help defense to close out on Tucker and force him to be a playmaker.

I feel like I should go to a game. Milwaukee is less than an hour and a half from my house. I imagine tickets will not be cheap lol.

My wife was a big Donte Divenchenzo fan when he got into the league. Even bought a Bucks Divenchenzo t-shirt. Before game 1 Wednesday night that shirt will be lit on fire and burned to ashes during a pre game ceremony in our yard.

Your actions may anger the basketball gods, after all donte is basically in a wheelchair post-surgery.

Haha, it does.

Shakes, sounds like you've been looking for a reason ... any reason .. to get rid of that shirt.

Donte is a good player, I would just put the shirt in a box and leave it until the series is finished, I'm afraid of the spirit of this shirt

Back to the lineups, it's an advantage that Donte is not playing, but it's only one player compared to Hunter, Reddish and the knee of Bogdanovic... For the entertainment, and the chances of ATL, I would have preferred both teams with their full roster.

It will be hard to guard Middleton without our injured players, but let's hope all ATL players can compensate that!

yea what's our matchups on the defensive end?

Capela on Lopez
Collins on Giannis
Trae on PJ
Huerter on Middleton
Bogi on Jrue

Yikes, there's a lot to hate about that.

Depends on how MIL offense turns.
If they send a lot Lopez in on the 3pts line, I will put our most mobile big on him, so John, and will put Capela on Giannis, it can work if he defends like he did in his best actions on Embiid : well positionned, and not trying to steal or block, just keeping a bit of distance and make him work. But he really needs to be focus on using any opportunity to get a charge on Ginanis.

Which hurst a lot is Hunter, because on the only game he played Vs MIL, he made 33pts on them.
It's hard to get info from the three games of the season because MIL was almost full, while for ATL, John missed one, Clint missed one, Trea missed two, Hunter missed two, Bogdanovic missed one... but made 28 and 32pts on the other two
First game was lost 129-115 with Pierce, second game lost 120-109 with McMillan, and third won 111-114 with McMillan

I bet our best chances is to try to keep them at 100pts or less, after all, ATL are now 19-1 this season including 4-0 in playoffs in this case.
And even more, 25-1 if 105 or less if I'm not wrong

yea I like Capela on Gianni and Collins on Lopez. Capela can just hang back at the FT line and challenge Giannis to shoot and hope Giannis settles. That way Capela can still be available to help at the rim. Can't do that if he's stuck hanging out with Lopez at the 3pt line.

Really sucks not having Hunter this series. How nice would it be to just throw him on Middleton and not have to worry about it. He could even spell some time on Giannis and Jrue if need be.

Right, I know we needed him to beat NYK, but I was afraid that he was not fully ready and that playing him too much would make his injury coming back.

It would be good to get an update on Cam injury, even if it would be hard to for him to get back in rhythm, it would be great to have the possibility to put him on Middleton even for 10min.

Raises an interesting question. Is it hard to get back in rhythm if you were never in rhythm to begin with?

Benefit of doubt, he never played for McMillan

I'd definitely flip Collins and Capela. Keeping Capela close to the rim is probably the best idea.
