In the last 5 games of the regular season, Jalen avg 11ppg, 5 rpg, 3 apg with 2 steals and a block in only 20 minutes per contest.
I'd start there with likely increases in scoring and assists based on a higher paced offense under Quin Snyder.

5 game sample sizes don't seem like a good way to judge future production. Especially for steals/blocks which are very volatile from game to game. Let alone the final 5 games of the NBA season where half the league is playing gleague level talent.

JJ's on-court responsibilities increased quite a bit in April, and he produced solidly when given the opportunity. I expect he'll be given every opportunity to cement a bigger role in the rotation and offense. I predict more performances like these moving forward.

JJ at his best:
- Pushing the ball in transition
- Attacking the rim off the dribble
- Creating for others

1 Risk Every NBA Team Should Take This Season
While everyone seemingly awaits Atlanta's inevitable change at center from Clint Capela to Onyeka Okongwu, there is another path to making this frontcourt more dynamic. Finding starter-level minutes (if not a starting spot altogether) for springy third-year swingman Jalen Johnson would do the trick.
The 6'9", 220-pounder boasts unfair explosion for his size and a sneaky-good eye for passing that could take this offense to the next level. While it sometimes appears he's playing too fast for his own good, that extra gear will be wildly beneficial once he becomes polished to the point of knowing exactly when, where and how to engage it.
The Hawks have a slew of three-and-D forwards—De'Andre Hunter, AJ Griffin and Saddiq Bey—and it feels like a safe option to rely on them to support star guards Trae Young and Dejounte Murray. But those players won't change Atlanta's fortunes, for better or worse.
There would be some risk involved in throwing major minutes at Johnson and hoping he can develop on the fly, but the potential reward of having a do-it-all defender who can drive, dish and finish on the move might justify it.

Re: Welcome to the HAWKS - Jalen Johnson
Every NBA Team's 1 Player Who Can Surprise Us Most
There is a frenetic nature to Johnson's game that Atlanta won't want to dial back too much. Part of his appeal is his "everything, everywhere, all at once" versatility, so the Hawks should give him as much freedom as they can afford.
Still, everything feels a little rushed right now, so Atlanta needs to show him how to downshift from 1.75x speed to a 1.5x pace. Given his anti-gravity bounce and long strides, he'd still be a step (or more) ahead of most defenders even if he isn't always burying the needle of his speedometer.
His shooting touch is either iffy or simply nonexistent, but you won't find many warts beyond that. His comfort handling the ball could give the Hawks some extra zip on grab-and-go rebounds, and he can do anything other than pop on either end of pick-and-roll plays. With John Collins out of Atlanta and no replacement added this offseason, Johnson has a real opportunity to play a much larger role in this rotation.

^Solid footwork.
Slow release.
Really glad to see him working on this, though.

How can the Atlanta Hawks best utilize Jalen Johnson?
Johnson is never going to fit the mold of a typical basketballer. He does a lot of things well. He has a solid ability to rebound, the athleticism to score close to the hoop, and developing his weakside rim protection.
However, he can start the transition play that could define the Hawks’ season. Young and Murray will go a long way to setting the bar for success for the Hawks. Johnson’s ability to rebound, put the ball on the floor, and find the right option in transition will take some of the pressure off the superstar guards.
This is going to help the Hawks get some cheap points in transition, which does not allow a defense to settle. This will allow the Hawks to have a similar offense to the OKC Thunder teams where Russell Westbrook was able to rebound the ball and start the fast break all in one move.
Not waiting for the big man to pass the ball off to a guard saves a second on that possession which can be all that is needed. Basketball at the NBA level is a game of inches and seconds, where the smallest margins can make a big difference.
However, it is not just Johnson’s ability to pass in transition that is going to help the Hawks. In the half-court, Johnson has started to show the ability to pass with both hands, His left-handed pass from the wing to Okongwu in the paint against the New Orleans Pelicans was a joy to behold. In fact, in the first half, Johnson had seven assists.

The star of preseason for Atlanta has to be Jalen Johnson, who continues to turn heads whether he starts or comes off the bench. Johnson scored 12 points on 5-of-9 shooting to go with a very impressive seven assists.
Johnson showcased his ability to pass at times last season and this level of passing from the forward spot is going to be very exciting for the Hawks and what it opens up for them.
Snyder was asked about Johnson’s passing post game and said it’s something he wants to see from the whole roster. Snyder described what makes Johnson a good passer, “we want to see that from our whole group,” said Snyder when asked about Johnson’s passing. “I think Jalen is clearly someone who is instinctive and I want him to make the right play. There’s a lot of times (where) that’s catch-and-shoot, there’s other opportunities where he’s able to find people be it in transition, or even interior passes in half court. I think his size and his length allows him to really see the floor. He’s unselfish, and I think that’s true of a lot of guys on our team and that becomes infectious. It’s a fun way to play.”
It would be fun to see more 4-5 pick-and-roll action with Okongwu in particular, think we’ll see those two continue to combine often.
“Our chemistry has grown a lot,” said Okongwu when asked about his connection with Johnson on the court. “I love Jalen as a player and person. He just knows how to get other people involved, not just myself. He’s a talented player. Hopefully our relationship can be stronger moving forward.”
Johnson has been great to watch in the preseason, and he shows no signs of slowing up.

Just needed the right staff to get it out of him, but a budding star is born. The synergy with Trae is there.
