...after one game?

Seems like ATL could get off to a hot start with an easy stretch of games to begin the season.

We certainly gained some respect thanks to our performance in the postseason.

I look forward to beating New Orleans but I don't think it will be easy. Zion will be absence but they can be a solid team still. The problem is if they're motivated to play or not.

That's Boolshite, they suck. One of the 3-4 worst teams in the league right now. Look at it this way, last year NOP sucked and didn't make the playoffs. Tomorrow we see that team that couldn't make the playoffs minus 3 of their 4 best players (Zion, Lonzo, Hart).

No excuse to not win this game in convincing fashion.

You ain't wrong but good teams lose to bad ones all the time. See the Hawks recent game vs CLE.

As long as the Hawks put forth a professional effort and some scrub from NOP doesn't get made to look like prime-Lebron, they should win.

Hope Hunter is back from illness so he can showcase how lopsided that trade was.

Just looked at some team stats between last season and this season, and ATL have :
- more RBD (from 46 to 51)
- more AST
- more BLK
- less TO
- less PF

on the negative side :
- LESS FT (from 24 to 15, and lost Vs CLE and WAS who are getting an average of 22 and 23FTs)
- less 3pts and lower % (from 33 attempts at 37% to 30 at 33%)
- a bit less STL

Didn't check but they certainly are allowing higher opponent FG% too
So they have to improve defense, and maybe work on getting more open 3s shots, especially if they don't get FTs by paying in the paint

The sizzle is a fizzle. It's only been 5 games so no need to panic. The offense looks a little out of sync and the defense has been horrible.

There’s been too much settling on offense so far. Fifteen percent of the Hawks’ shots this season have been long 2s, the second-most in the league. They’re in the bottom six of 3-point attempts and last in the league in accuracy at the rim. And, again, these are numbers against teams who aren’t nearly as good as the Hawks.

Atlanta has too much talent on the roster to not put it all together and become a top seed in the East, but the first five games have been anything but a statement that the Hawks are deserving of the national respect they think they deserve. Nate McMillan and the players seem to think it’s just the Hawks needing to build chemistry, which is understandable considering the starting five of Trae Young, Bogdan Bogdanovic, De’Andre Hunter, John Collins and Clint Capela barely played together last season because of injuries. It also could be Bogdanovic, Hunter and Capela haven’t been great offensively so far. Capela’s efficiency has been brutal and his rim protection hasn’t been great; Bogdanovic hasn’t been able to fully get into a groove and Hunter hasn’t been as aggressive as he needs to be, though he’s been an elite on-ball defender thus far.

John Collins has been phenomenal
Cam Reddish’s confidence
Trae not getting calls
Huerter out of rhythm

yea it's been real ugly. Aside from the first game vs Dallas every other game has been disappointing, even the wins. team looks like a paper tiger so far.

You better find your motivation then, Trae, y'all aren't in the final 4 in ink, cuz you made it last year.

Different year, same problem.
Delon Wright was supposed to help with some of the issues we’ve seen from the Atlanta Hawks

One name that has come up often of late is Delon Wright. The seven-year veteran was acquired via three-team trade over the summer. It was supposed to lessen the drop-off in offensive production the Hawks experienced when Trae Young went to the bench. Their offensive rating dropped 12.4 points when Young sat.

That disparity has grown this season, now to 17.4 points per 100 possessions, despite Wright’s presence.

Move Huerter to starting five and out Capela on IR so he can get healthy.
